it's a phase but i've been listening to a lot of Fairport Convention (in love with Sandy Denny since the Battle of Evermore), big fan of Richard Thompson and Bert Jansch and Pentangle. the instrumentation is so great. pure.
you Ringo and Charlie Watts fans/critics: here's some skiffle drumming. I like the Pentangle stuff a lot but Jacque Mcphee is a little annoying to me, unlike Sandy Denny. My buddy Dean is a huge Jacque fan, but he's also a wuss.

more of this and less "haircut-of-the-week" bands that B_Smack pretends he likes so he can keep up with Dins, who's trying to keep up with kids that giggle behind his back at shows
TIA

Re: Pentangle: Travelling Song
I love Bert Jansch's guitar playing. like i say, big fan of Richard Thompson too. Fairport Convention is blowing me away this week. i saw Richard Thompson in 87 in Nashville, one of the best live shows i've ever seen.
i'd put it with Husker DU/Flaming Lips opening in 85, Minutemen 84, REM Reckoning (83?), Replacements 85 (just before Tim)...for the time period.

I'm all about anyone taking a run at BSmack, for just about any reason...
But some sort of reality-based smack would be nice.
There's few posters in this forum who are any less prone to jumping on the band-du-jour wagon than BSmack and me.
While Bri's faults may be vast... far too many to even begin to list here... latching on to Pitchfork's latest darling isn't one of them.
