Bolts @ Raiduhs

Post by poptart »

I'm pretty damn impressed with what I see P. Rivers doing.
He's tough, composed, competetive, and he's making all the throws.
Plenty of weapons at his disposal too.
Scary offensive team, and LT hasn't even really gone off ... yet.

But as scary as SD is on offense, they are almost equally UN-scary on defense.
A glimmer of hope ...

Oakland can win this game if they do most of the following ...

- Own time of possession by running over SD and notching first down after first down.
- Win field position. Lechler needs his standard game, and the Bolts need to be starting their drives inside their 30 more often than not. Give them a short field and they'll put points up. No two ways about it.
- Get the same defensive performance as v. Buffalo ... for the first 3+ quarters. Keep the heat on Rivers and don't let him get TOO comfortable. Sadly, G. Warren is out, and it seems that D. Burgess is dinged ... at least. Roh oh.
- Limit penalties ... like last week.
- Get an early lead and get the make the home crowd into a factor.
- Score TOUCHDOWNS when red zone opportunities arise.
- Come up with a turnover or three.

Janikowski boots a 44 yarder with under 30 seconds remaining.

The Chargers defense looked a hell of a lot better Monday night than it did in the first two games. I don't how much of that reflects a crappy Jets offense or that the defense dug a little deeper into their playbook. They defense started slow last year running very vanilla schemes early on. Maybe someone needs to remind Cotrell that the pre-season is over. One thing that has been overlooked is that Stephen Cooper has been out, serving a 4-gamne suspension, which has had an effect on stopping the run.
Oakland can win this game IF they do most of the following ...
FTFY :D
- Own time of possession by running over SD and notching first down after first down.
That is probably a given for most any game, but having a vetran like Fargas out puts a crimp in your in your overall running game. The Chargers need to commit to stopping the run and make Russell try to beat them through the air. Jammer and Cromartie are emerging as a pretty solid CB tandem, and I would take my chances playing them in alot of man coverage.
- Win field position. Lechler needs his standard game, and the Bolts need to be starting their drives inside their 30 more often than not. Give them a short field and they'll put points up. No two ways about it.
Agreed that Lechler is among the top in the league at putting teams on a long field but I don't see that as a huge problem. As you stated the Chargers offense is Scary good, they can strike quickly and move the ball from anywhere. Additionally Scifres is no slouch, he can equally keep the Raiders on a long field as well.
- Get the same defensive performance as v. Buffalo ... for the first 3+ quarters. Keep the heat on Rivers and don't let him get TOO comfortable. Sadly, G. Warren is out, and it seems that D. Burgess is dinged ... at least. Roh oh.
I just can't see the Duh's defensive slowing down the Chargers attack, particularly with the injuries you noted.
- Limit penalties ... like last week.
Red Herring, when the Raiders actually had some good teams and were winning they didn't let silly things like being the most penalized team effect them much.
- Get an early lead and get the make the home crowd into a factor.
On the flip-side, get down early and the whole Al vs Lane soap opera will start taking over and things can get really ugly, really fast.
- Score TOUCHDOWNS when red zone opportunities arise.
Sin,
Marcus
- Come up with a turnover or three.
Well yea, turnovers are always nice.

Something you missed. If the Raiders want to stay in this game they will need to take advantage on special teams particularly on run backs. The Chargers have been giving up huge chunks of yards allowing teams short fields to work on. Mondays score would have been a lot more lopsided if they didn't give up something like 291 yards on kick returns.

Janikowski shanks a 37 yarder with under 30 seconds remaining in the first half.

fatslob ryan is actively undermining kiffen during the week to give alcula the excuse to fire him

not saying the raiders are going to throw the game- but they're positioning themselves to not win

...cood's...the Raiduhs are in no position to throw the game...you'd have to have a chance at winning in order to throw it.

A 15-3 lead going into the 4th Q, and they choke like faggots.

Typical fucking Raider football.......fuck this shit team and owner. Kiff's laugh out loud pussy 4th quarter playcalling is a fucking joke-he was truly meant for this shit team. They should just hire Millen for the GM job and get the joke trifecta overwith already.

I truly feel for the dumbfucks who are stupid enough to pay thier hard earned $$$$ to watch this horrific shit product.

Glad i'm not one of those dumbfucks any longer.

RJ,

Norv Turner coaches the Chargers. You sure you want to give up with 2 minutes left?

Edit: Never mind. I feel for you Raider fan. I really do. Damn that's a world class meltdown.

Good game by the Bolts ... err .... well, actually not their best game.
But good enough to get over the the 'duds.

Same script as last week for Oakland.
Offense leaves lot of points on the board, can't convert third downs, defense plays it's ass off but is left out on the field too long ... then craters in the 4th.

McFadden not being 100% hurts Oakland right now.
Just not enough juice on offense.

Russell?
He's gotta get make quicker decisions and he's gotta protect the ball.
Painful growing process for the kid.

Javon Walker -- Milk Carton.
Nice contract he raped Alvis for.

Tough TOUGH loss.

Just another in a LONG line of kicks in the nuts.

Fuck this team-I will never give another goddamn penny of my $$$ to that shit franchise until Al is fucking dead.

I truly fucking hope the Raiders lose every last game left on thier schedule, and continue to do so until Al is 6 feet under.

Like I said in the James Lofton thread-We need true leadership, and it starts at the top.

I can't knowingly root for a bunch of underachieving millionaire cunts who care more about playing each other on thier playstations during fucking film sessions than studying how to beat thier opponent in the upcoming week. This sad sack of shit franchise doesnt deserve the great fanbase it has......

Season. Fucking. Over.

....and that goes for EVERY goddamn season until we get an owner who has a fucking clue on how to hire a GM, Coach, and intill some type of rules for the players to follow.

Give me a fucking break-it was obvious what was going to happen before the game even began: The Chokeland Faiders would be gagging on the bolts cock and tongueing thier marble sacks one way or another.....but hey, im sure Tommy Kelly beat Kirk Morrison in thier latest head to head video game battle during study time-so its alllllll good!

Like I said, fuck this team and fuck Al.

mvscal wrote:Can't blame the D. Those fuckers are just gassed at the end of games. They need some help out of the offense. They just aren't getting enough big plays out of the passing game.
Doesnt fucking matter. As long as The Count is in charge, we'll continue to overspend on shit WR's and DB's while failing to address the Offensive line. I mean, have you heard Madden recall how he had to fight tooth and nail with a coherent Alcula to draft a lineman instead of a WR or DB to "push" Freddy B and our WR corps as well as our DB corps? Those fucking picks that Madden had to fight for ended up being Art Shell and Upshaw, dude.

Basically, what im saying is that there will NEVER be another coach who will have that kind of pull with the daywalker ever again, and we're seeing the result of this old cunt getting his fucking way in the draft/free agent signings every year.

Without Gruden bringing Gannon and Co. on board and kicking Al's boy Jeff George to the curb, we'd be going on a 14 year losing streak. Thats how fucking stupid the old man is, and how his inablity to grasp the obvious or learn from his past mistakes will continue to fuck the franchise over and over and over again until he gives up the reigns or is taking a dirt nap.

With his job security thinner than Ally McBeal after a stint on Survivor, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin made a mind-boggling decision to end the first half of Sunday’s game against the Chargers.

Kiffin called for kicker Sebastian Janikowski to try a Gus-style 76-yard field goal.

Seventy. Six. Yards.

Antonio Cromartie of the Chargers, who returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a score last season against the Vikings, caught the ball at his own two, but only made it 26 yards before being tackled.

Lane may smoke a bowlful of dicks on a weekly basis, but he deserves better than working under Alcula.

He should stop playing these stupid fucking games with Al and just resign already. There's really no point in him wallowing around with the pigs (Davis and his ilk) before he exits. NOT playing Al's game would probably cause the old dumbfuck to have a heart attack......besides, he'll have plenty of chances to buttfuck Al's bitch ass in the mouth when he joins the Broncos as a coordinator.

Good coach. Excellent second half adjustments as always.
Which the exact opposite of Kiffin.

Fucking cocksmoke is aggressive as fuck the first half, and then clams up and gets conservative in the second half. Its the story of his pro coaching career thus far, and it is totally fucking unacceptable. He fucking sucks too, but much less than Al does.

Kiff really is in over his head as far as coaching is concerned. Out of our 4 games, he has been outcoached badly in 3 of them. Unfuckingacceptable.

Kiffin fugged up with the clock at the end of the first half, and the Jano 76 yd attempt was truly a bizzaro moment.
Oh well.

Hey, on balance, Kiffin has done a good job in Oakland.
He took over a major rebuilding project -- even if Al doesn't want to realize it.
The team has played hard.
I've really only seen a couple of games -- last year -- in which it looked like the guys packed it in a little bit.

The offense right now is painful.
The line has spurts of dominance in run-blocking, but it's not sustained.
That same line is below average in pass protection.
And this is trouble for a young QB ... especially when the QB has garbage to throw to.

With McFadden limping around, Russell just has no help, no big play potential.

I s'pose you can blame Kiffin for being too conservative.
Might be so.
I think he wants to open it up more, but hey, look at what we're dealing with as far as offensive personnel.

When D. Hall picked off Rivers late in the 3rd quarter with Oakland up 12 it should have been ballgame.
But Russell promptly pissed down his leg and returned the favor on a little screen to McFadden.
That was a REALLY bad turnover, and we've seen a couple/few of 'em from JaMarcus this year.

We gave another game away, just like last week.
It hurts.

We've got young guys, we're gonna see more mistakes.
And we need more beef up front on both sides of the ball.

Look on the bright side, James.
We won't lose next week.

Lechler had some nice punts.

70 yards rolling to a stop on the 5...can't get much better than that.

At least the Raiders aren't AP.

If Kiffin quits, he doesn't get paid. If Alcula fires him, he gets to sue him for the money.

Denver could sure use a coordinator though- on either side of the ball
