Just got power back this weekend after Ike. Hope Texas shows up. I am more worried about our young defense. Too many freshman. I would think that ou would be 7-10 favorite.....seeing that we haven't played anybody this year.

What you talking about? Texas just steamrolled Arkansas. We all know the SEC is such a fucking meatgrinder that that ass whooping should be good for some gloss as greatest team ever or something.Harvdog wrote:seeing that we haven't played anybody this year.

couple of big 12 powerhouses going at it like we do every year... imo, the ou offense is better than my horns defense. here is hoping ou isnt in synch.... radio fan care for a friendly wager?
Re: Still 12 days from OU/Tejas...i can't help it.
You're on, bro.
-----------------
Btw, (sup Moby and Skull?) in case I haven't made it clear before ... I actually attended UTSA for my first 2 years, then graduated from OU, when Switzer had dudes in dorms shooting and raping high school chicks. Some veeeeerry proud moments, back in 1989, not to mention the starting QB selling cocaine to an undercover FBI agent, and speaking about the "dangers of drugs" a week or so before he got busted, to an elementary school class.
Sorry, OU Brethren, but it's true: This so-called "RIVALRY," (outside of Oklahomans' inferiority complex and lower SAT scores for admission) is the biggest joke -- this side of m2 selling windchimes -- south of the Red River.
How many players on OU's squad this year, are from Texas? And how many of them are starters?
Sorry, bros, but this goddamn "tejas" hate, for me, is beyond bizzare, especially given the multitude of fucking TARDS in this state who cheer like mad for the fucking Dallas Cowboys.
Somebody please explain that to me, outside of "Well, there are a lot of OU grads who go to Dallas ... and live ... and work ... and ..."
Please.
As a neutral observer in this annual game -- and having Actually Attended Both Schools -- I just find it humorous how OU Fan gets all fired up about a team based in a state where OU draws heavily on recruits.
Funny shit.
------------------------
It should be a hell of a great game in two weeks or so, even more than usual.
Both teams should be ranked in the top 5.
'spray, I don't see this as a blowout. I see it as coming down to a field goal and/or some horseshit ref call.
We'll see.

Re: Still 12 days from OU/Tejas...i can't help it.
RF,
When i was living in dallas a few years back 95% of my co-workers were Texas fans. They grieved my NON-STOP about being from oklahoma and being an OU fan. Seriously, it was an everyday thing even during the off season, and this was back when we had won 3 in a row (with 2 more on the way). I'll never forget the day after the 03 ass whoopin. It was pretty fuckin' quiet around work for a few days. But when OU shit the bed against K-state and then USC it was back on and even the last day i was working there they grieved my ass.
I dont know if it's such a big deal around the Austin parts..but in Dallas i heard "OU SUCKS" non stop.

There it is.....Dallas sucks. I cannot think of a city in Texas that I dislike more than Dallas. I have never been around more $30K a year millionaires in my life. Guys that will go to a bar and pay a $25 cover so that they can be seen are complete fucking tools. Probably went to SMU on daddies dime.

Rack RadioFan.
I get the Ou/t.u. rivalry and all, but the "all things tejas sucks" and anyone who subscribes to that thinking is pathetic. Especially when it is Oklahoma residents. You can be envious. Just don't let it get to you.

LOL. my sister works at SMU and is just amazed by the students/alumni there. While she's got a nice little thing going in Dallas (that suits her), i totally agree about Dallas.Harvdog wrote:There it is.....Dallas sucks. I grew up in Oklahoma and my family is split b/ween there and Texas, and i have no jealousy (or "envy" as Indy seems to intimate) of Texas at all. In fact, Texas is one of last places i'd want to live and work outside proximity to my family. But, let's not make this one-sided, Texas has it's equal share hillbilly nimrods....but Texans seem to think that pulling into the quickie mart in New Braunfels instead of Broken Arrow to buy a Bud tall boy and a "UT/OU sucks" bumpersticker for the F-250 makes you an aristocrat of some kind.
That said: I still want OU to knock the snot out of Texas every second weekend in October.

The only people that I know of who think Texans, in general, think their shit don't stink are non-Texans. Every state has their fair share of this, that or the other. You never hear "All things North Dakota suck."
Then again, with all the attention, negative or positive, it must mean one thing. Relevance.

Moby, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of bandwaggoning football know-nothing tards in Texas, just like everywhere else.
9 times out of 10, it's the idiots who have never even stepped foot on campus (other than the stadium and nearby parking lots), much less taken a single class who have the most intense "hatred" of their rival's geographic area.
Plenty of OU fans in that category. On the flip side, OU fans are some of the most knowledgeable and insightful fans of the game, with an historical perspective that can be matched by few others ('sup T1B). :D

i know for every dumbshit Tejas fan (dont take that personally board horns) there's a dumbshit OU fan. I sometimes wish i were working in Dallas again with some of the OU fans i work with. Of course..i'd rather work with 100 Tejas fans than a handfull of Okie State fans. ...gezus.....

If you want to claim "all things Austin suck" then by all means do it. I've said this on these boards many times over the years and anyone who truly believes "all things Texas suck" is truly short-sighted. There's plenty I don't like about Texas, but to me it is few and far between compared to the good stuff in Texas. It's one thing to say it in a rivalry sense to get people riled up, but there's plenty of OU folks over the years that have said that and truly mean it. It has just grown tiresome.

i agree, RF has identified the morons. but, same is true for Texas. the only time horn and aggies get together on the net is a good "bash the state of Oklahoma/trailerparkistan" threads (usually after OU has beaten both teams the previous season). I've seen it at hornfans, texags, websider, orangebloods for 10 years...it happens. i've seen it. you guys get giddy and touchy/feely with it.IndyFrisco wrote: It's one thing to say it in a rivalry sense to get people riled up, but there's plenty of OU folks over the years that have said that and truly mean it. Re: Still 12 days from OU/Tejas...i can't help it.
I don't share the same thoughts as AgFan on other boards, usually. I was just referring to those on this Board. My track record speaks for itself. The only fanbase I take issue with is taco tceh. Even friends of mine who went there are unbearable. Every tceh fan I have encountered online or in person is like m2. And if tceh happened to be in Oklahoma, Louisianna, New Mexico, etc, it would not make me think the whole state is steaming pile of shit.
I think most Ags have a competitive level of respect for OU (even though we may not have competed on the field in recent years.) Even t.u. to some degree. I've just never subscribed to the "you have to hate your opponent to be a fan" line of thinking. Just the "you have to hate tceh" line of thinking.

Re: Still 12 days from OU/Tejas...i can't help it.
Fine. I'LL do it. I'LL tell youse guys what I hate about Tejas...
-----
- I hate the fact that you can't buy beer in every county, and that, even in a freakin' college town, going to get liquor is like a half an hour drive. (Denton.)
- I hate the fact that half of the state thinks it's a sin to sell beer on Sunday's at all, and the other half wishes that you'd start selling it to Cowboys tailgaters at 4am the previous morning.
- I hate the fact that I have to see To on my television, crying over the same star that he celebrated on, talking about "his quarterback."
- I hate the fact that Jerry Jones won't tell us the truth about when his private jet crashed at Roswell back in 1947.
- I hate the fact that most of the guys I've met from Tejas don't deserve most of the girls that I've met from Tejas. It's like a Tekken battle gone wrong, "Douche vs. Goddess." Ready? Fight.
- I hate the fact that Billy isn't still coaching at TCU.
- I hate the fact that Kathy Ireland isn't still kicking for UNT.
- Tejas security got President Kennedy killed.
- Galveston could legitimately market itself as "New Orleans without the fun... or the crime" and more people would go there.
- If you have an out-of-state license, they stare at that shit for like a half an hour, and then usually have to get a manager to decide whether or not to sell it to you, but if you're a pube past 21 with a Tejas license, they barely glance it over.
- That attitude extends past the 7-11's and liquor stores. News flash: Going to a privileged Tejas high school doesn't make you anything other than another high school graduate. Congrats on having 2000 in your graduating class. I had 88. You're still an asshole. I'm sure that I'd have something to say about the middle-class and lower-class Tejans, but they're not let out on the weekends that I visit.
- Your roads are always clean. Mainly 'cause they were just built. Could you please have a little more construction? But really, only during OU / Tejas weekend, you pieces of shit.
- I hate the sloppy work that you did on the fences down south. They took errr joooooobs!
- Honestly, I got nothing. Texas isn't that bad a place. Good beer, good music, hot women... It's always been a fun roadie, every single time I've gone, no matter what I was getting into. But, it's got one major, glaring flaw...
- , The University of. They represent every single bad thing about the entire state and it's people. Every negative stereotype about both the rednecks and the white collars. That whiny "we're Tejas, we deeeeserve to win" attitude. Mack's Snake Oil. That drugged-up fucking cow of a mascot. (As opposed to OU's drug-inspired ones...)
Their retired Holiday Bowl trophy, their "we're always going to beat you" attitudes, the fact that they don't show up in the West End after they lose, but they're out en masse after they win. The deal that was made with Chris Simms. The deals that were made with Vince Young. Winning is about more than one player, no matter the player, no matter how highly recruited. Vince turned his offense over to Wonderlic, and damn near turned his program over to Chrissy, before ripping it back...
"I'll answer that one for Chris."
I hate the University of Tejas' football team; nay, program... The state gets a little bit of runoff bile just because it's in the same proximity. That's all.
So that's why I'm all like, "fuck Tejas!"

Re: Still 12 days from OU/Tejas...i can't help it.
Skull,
ever been told you COULDNT buy beer cause you had an out of state liscense? Gay shit...was buying beer at a liquor store along I-35..i wanna say it was Denton..whatever exit it is with that big fake ass giant cowboy on the side of the road..Told me no cause i was an oklahoman. Straight up. So i went out..got my uncle who was sitting in the car..he came in..i made sure the clerk could see me give him the 20 for the beer and he bought it. Clerk was pretty pissed off, he asked my uncle for his I.D. thinking he was from out of state as well.
Bad idea. He went on like a 10 minute rant about how long he's been a resident and how much he loved Texas..blah blah..anyhow, the clerk ended up telling him he could get fired for buying me the beer. Uncle said he didnt give a flyin fuck..
long story short, i got my beer.
what a fuckin hassle tho.
dry counties suck ass too btw.

i dont think i ever remember oklahoma having dry counties...tho, i'm 'only' 30. Now, buying liquor on sundays and holidays are off-limits.
*edit
there ARE some counties that have no liquor by the drink laws.
