Did you volunteer for his campaign? Doubtful.
Did you donate money to it? Also doubtful.
Did you do anything but bitch about every other American not doing their duty on a shithole message board?
Doubtful.

I think this has been covered many times over already in this thread, so this is the last time.Bushice wrote:If this guy is so great - WHY is he not in contention RIGHT NOW?
We're going around in circles.
Paul got very little support within his own party because virtually every elected official finds out quickly that there is more to benefit for them PERSONALLY if they sell out, play the game, and say to hell with what the Constitution says.
So when one guy does take his oath seriously, and does vote in accordance with the Constitution, he gets no support within the party from the nearly 100% of jack offs who do the very opposite ... and who, btw, control the party.
Bottom line is that the parties are not looking out for YOU, Bushice.
The one guy who kept speaking the truth and who always cast his votes as he has taken his oath to do, WANTS to look out for you.
You just won't let him.
And Dinsdale and I are simply asking you to let your brain work for you.
But you just won't let it.

Oh well gee, thanks Mom and Dad. Look guys like Paul sound great and appear to have integrity. But every man has his price. The reason small bit players - and really super duper smart opinionated people on message boards and blogs - can maintain their integrity is predominantly because IT HASN'T BEEN TESTED.poptart wrote: And Dinsdale and I are simply asking you to let your brain work for you.
I"m all for voting for a another party and at least trying to send a message but I'm not going to sit here and tell Bushice his suspicions and feelings of powerlessness are based in stupidity.
The fact is rabble rousers like Paul, Nader, Perot, etc.. will ALWAYS be marginalized and rendered impotent by the powers that be until they comply.
All really smart people like yourself should understand that the folks beneath you are simply misinformed. Very little attention is paid to these independent parties in the media. Personally, I think the strategy should be focused on getting them out in the public eye more. As to how to get them involved in the debates and get the media to pay more attention to them - besides the obvious step of voting for them - I'm all ears.
Perhaps some of the smart people can elaborate an actual plan of action instead of gloating rhetoric and boastful platitudes.

Especially after those assholes in Washington just sold us out to their greedy rich friends on Wall Street.Tom In VA wrote:poptart wrote: And Dinsdale and I are simply asking you to let your brain work for you.

Essentially we have to replace 60% of the house and 75% of the Senate in order to get people in office who are actually upholding their oaths and representing the people.
Have at it, sisyphusdale.

Dearest Tom,Tom wrote:Look guys like Paul sound great and appear to have integrity. But every man has his price. The reason small bit players - and really super duper smart opinionated people on message boards and blogs - can maintain their integrity is predominantly because IT HASN'T BEEN TESTED.
Let's see, we can either go down the 'untested' ... Follow the Constitution ... path, or the very well tested ... Let's Make Up a Bunch of Shit as We Go Along ... path.
I've rattled those two choices around considerably within my own skull, and, seeing the glorious results of path #2, have concluded that path #1 is the way to go.
You can search within yourself for your own answer.
Plan?Perhaps some of the smart people can elaborate an actual plan of action instead of gloating rhetoric and boastful platitudes.
Simple, follow the Constitution.
Re: Opinions on Palin?
Understood poptart. The problem is, "Follow the Constitution" - which hasn't been done exactly right since it was penned ....
Isn't the answer I'm looking for. The answer I'm looking for is
"How do we get politicians to do something that hasn't been done right since the Constitution was ratified ?"
What's the plan there ?
My plan, like I said, would have something to do with working on getting these guys like Nader, Baldwin, etc.. etc.. more visible in the mainstream media. Get the media to pay as much attention to them as they do the other guys. But that is easier said than done. Any ideas on that one ?
I don't view American as being stupid as much as misinformed. The News, is not that. It's an arm of some insidious machine that's taking over, IMHO. They either misreport something or don't report it at all.

Re: Opinions on Palin?
Good post, good points and good questions, Tom.
The internet has helped to make people MUCH more aware of guys like Paul, etc., but as long as the mainstream media ignores or mocks them, it'll be damn near impossible to sway the hords of sheeple.
In our current landscape, a politician who champions TRUE financial reform will NEVER gain acceptance from either party OR from the media.
As such, and as exampled in here, it's like pulling teeth to even get people to CONSIDER that Paul is THE guy who's in this thing to look after the interests of ... WE THE PEOPLE.
Side note: Look for the free flow of information that we now have via the internet to be somehow compromised in the not-too-distant future.

Re: Opinions on Palin?
We've been on path #2 for nearly 80 years- arguably even since the civil war. That ain't changing anytime soon no matter how much we want to daydream about it.poptart wrote:Let's see, we can either go down the 'untested' ... More likely is that the eventual collapse of the USA is no longer avoidable and we devolve into anarcho-tyranny. And without Uncle Sam to support the rest of the socialist west- they'll devolve right along with us. Could happen real soon, or could take another half-century.
