The Soviet Union that imploded when simple-minded reformers dissolved massive state-run institutions and didn't think of a contingency to replace them with anything else. The place that cancelled the five-year plan and hoped for the 'invisible hand' to appear and promote 'growth'.

The PRC regulates birth contol because the population is so massive, the need of citizens couldn't be met, they'd collapse under their own weight.

The DPRK was enormously successful, but ran into trouble when the country it conducted 80% of its trade with vanished and they themselves were slapped with energy sanctions.
Cutting of the lifeblood of a country and starving the population, using food as a political weapon and blaming it on 'dear leader' strikes me as being a bit disingenuous.

Again, I don't think you're getting it. In my (actually very readable) little book called Capital I carefully explain that the inevitable course of rapacious predatory Capitalism (which fits like a sprocket into Colonialism and Imperialism) will lead directly to government control of all credit. And remember, I'm not an economist, I'm a historian. I've apologized, though it's not my part, for ghastly social revolutions and programs enacted in my name--with huge billboard posters of me supposedly giving my encouragement. It's outrageous (but not ironic!) and I really have never expressed any regard for violence , class struggle retribution or anything like that. Now, you'll excuse me, but I'm going out.
