Ouch. I guess he lasted about 13 seconds longer than I would have.
So....I hear that Kimbo didn't have a good night.

Yadda, yadda, yadda.

I actually watched quite a bit of that card last night. The women's fight that I saw was probably the best fight of the night.
Petruzelli just went after him...I don't think Kimbo is used to facing anyone with the combination speed and striking ability. He gave up 30 pounds to Kimbo but he used his obvious mobility advantage and got to him fast and he didn't know what to do. He's better suited for fighting another slow-moving target like he is.

...the Slice fight was of course a farce, but he's gone and I doubt we'll see anymore backyard brawlers in main events.
as for the Gina Carano fight, that was excellent. She wasn't as sharp in this fight as the Kaitlin Young fight, but still took a unamious decision, setting up a possible bout with Felice Herrig. That will be a war.

I hate to sound like a MMA purist here but Kimbo sucks. I hate when a fighter, whether MMA or boxing, is coddled and protected by the powers that be by feeding him opponents that he should walkthrough. It's fine to bring a fighter along and not feed him to the wolves too early in his career. Those fighters don't belong on the main card and under no circumstances should any organization have that fighter as the face, hope and dream of the organization. Anyone who ever saw Kimbo fight knew he was a MMA fraud. It was inevitable that he would be exposed for being a complete neophyte at MMA. That came courtesy of guy from a lower weight class (Petruzelli is a light heavyweight) who isn't exactly an A-list, B-list or maybe even a C-list fighter. I almost agree with Dana White when he said that Urijah Faber (WEC's featherweight champ) would beat Kimbo.
You can make some comparisons to what the UFC is doing with Brock Lesnar but unlike EliteXC protecting Kimbo, the UFC has most definitely not protected Lesnar given that his first three fights will have been Frank Mir, Heath Herring and Randy Couture. If he beats Randy, he gets the winner of the Mir-Nogueira fight. Definitely baptism by fire for Lesnar.
... and Gina Carano is a badass!
