Serious Question

Post by SunCoastSooner »

Does anyone here know much about baseball memorabilia?

I have a baseball that is signed by either the entire or the majority of one of the early 1960s New York Yankees baseball team. It's old and sat in an old box until my grandfather's death and was then left to me. I am thinking 1960 or 1964 based on particular signatures unless one of them stayed on as a coach and I have their signatures as well. It isn't in mint with the signatures or been authenticated based on what I know about it but it is in very good condition. I've done a little bit of research on the signatures and am damn sure it is the real thing based on the penmanship of the names but I am obviously no expert. I also know that my grandfather was friends with Harvey Bright

Signatures include: Mickey Mantle, Ralph Terry, Phil Linz, John Blanchard, Ed Ford, Joe Pepitone, Clete Boyer, Elston Howard, Jack Reed, Hector Lopez, Bob Richardson, Harry Bright, Roger Marris, Stan Williams, Steve Hamilton (with his signature star as the dot above the "i"), Marshall Bridges, Bud Daley, Toni Kubek, Bill Stafford, Dale Long, and a few others that the penmanship makes me unsure of.

Just so you know I'm not full of shit or that this isn't a classic bad SCS troll job I took a picture of it on my OU picnic blanket and then took some close ups...

I've been looking at things online but it seems like a crap shoot and was wondering if anyone here could provide me on any advice about getting it authenticated, evaluated, ect.

It's easy to find a company that authenticates memorabilia. The question is, why do you want to know? If it's real (it appears to be) it's a nice piece of history to hold on to. What difference does it make what it's worth? If your Gramps left it to you would you ever sell it?

Nice ball and good luck.
