I was curious about that as well. Would he pass a background check for clearances or anything ? Are senators required to pass such clearances ?

I don't know. My assumption is that he's been properly "vetted" and checks out or he wouldn't be a senator or have gotten this far in the election process.

I agree that his involvement in that church was highly questionable. The O'Reilly interview was quite telling. He supposedly went to church about twice a month over twenty years. Part time attendee. It happens. His faith runs lukewarm. However, he goes on to say how it has 'molded and shaped' him into the man he is today. He says that it was only recently that he heard the offensive talk from Wright. Huh? You've got to be kidding me? He just started now? Yeah, right. This shows one of two things: 1) Obama never went to the church with any regularity and has lied about it from day one 2) Obama went to church and heard these statements from Wright and either A) had no problem with them/agreed with them or B) just wasn't listening (this would destroy the whole idea that he has claimed about Wright being his 'spiritual leader' who led him to Christ and baptized his children).

Guilty by association. They do a through background check on your family and friends. I had a friend apply for a federal job and it was amazing what he had to go through. After 911, he applied for a higher grade position and had to go through it all over again. it's a good thing he didn't use me as a reference. Dude would be still at Radio Shack as an electronics technician.
