UM - sig bet, already.

Post by PSUFAN »

Here's the deal, UM guys - if PSU wins, you sport the sig and avatar of my choosing for a week. If PSU loses, I sport the sig and avatar of your choosing for a week.

Any takers?

i don't see the point of betting on a predetermined outcome, but i'll add my avatar to your coronation.

anyhow, my typical t1b prediction:

omg, penn state are awesome; umich am horrible... penn state is so good they're going to win the 2010 mnc this year as well... blah blah blah... dickrod is the worst coach ever he's eaten barwis or something.. i have more awesome analysis about our offensive line's matchup against their band...

Where were you the last nine games? Nice to show up when your three and a half td favorites. I know we've never done the sig bet thing because I think I'm still winless in them.

This is one year. Try 10+ years of fucked up leadership and shitty coaching hires (Weis's fate has yet to be decided). Hopefully this guy is your end point, not your Bob Davie.

Michigan might have the best defense PSU faces all year. There is no reason to believe this will be a blowout, in my opinion. I do not think PSU will cover the spread...we'll see.

Don't let past failures spook you...this isn't the same type of Michigan team that broke your heart. What is similar with this team to other Michigan teams...they can't defend a spread or spread-like offense. I don't see Clark putting up the insane numbers that Juice put up two weeks ago at the Big House but he'll complete more than half his pass, unlike Juice, and he's got a better running game behind him. Michigan will probably keep Royster at or around 100 yards but it'll be the big plays that will do them in. Penn State is as good as they've been in several years and this could be one of the worst Michigan teams in the half century. This is the right time for the Lions to put a beating on Michigan after all the years of frustration.

Well, aside from PSU just being much better, a young UM team will experience 107,000 screaming white-out Nittany Lion nuts. This road experience will be much more overwhelming than anything they've seen this year so far. This isn't going to end well.

You've got that right...that can pretty much be said for the rest of the season, not just how today's game will end. When expectations are at their lowest, seeing a blowout isn't as shocking or disappointing. Any open-minded WolverineFan should know what they're in for entering the second half of the schedule. I'm not saying this for affect but I'm prepared to see this team not win any more games this season.

I'm giving RichRod one year of my patience as a fan but next year the excuses and any other variables go out the window and I want to see them back to respectability, if not back to being a contender in the Big Ten. Given that he does win in his first wherever he's been...I'm hoping that this is just part of the process to him building what the team he wants up here and makes this program a perennial top 10 team.

I do want what these guys to still play with some respect for themselves, each other and the program itself and not roll over but this is hopefully going to be the low-water mark for this program and it will only improve after this year. What I'd at least be satisfied with is a 3-3 finish to the season...maybe steal a win in one of the three rivalry games.

Be careful Shoazie, next year UM will most likely have a frosh at qb. Probably Beaver but maybe Forcier. With the o-line, backs and recievers having a full year plus of the system under their belt, we will be much better....8 wins or so. Once there are several years of RR's offense and recruits in place and a duel threat qb with some cfb game experience is at the helm we'll know more about the direction.

I'm all for a freshman QB that is capable of playing the system. Hopefully, whomever is under center next year is more capable of running the spread-option than either Threet or Sheridan. I'm not telling any secrets that the guy he wanted to run this offense this year is right now getting ready to play a huge game up in East Lansing. However, he's had all that time between to get a QB ready for season.

I think we've seen a combination of RichRod being stubborn to not change his offense to cater to a QB with a lesser skill set but conversely, these two guys are probably the least talented QBs to play at Michigan probably since I've been watching this team. I'm counting on next year being better...if not, I'll be less than kind with my criticism of this coach and his team.

That was the big run by Royster that I was dreading.

Close call on that near lost fumble by McGuffie. Interested to see what kind of a response the Wolverines will have. They've have some nice opening drives in games but fizzled out. It would be nice to see a steady first half offensively.

Kudos on probably their best first half of football this year. It would be great to see that hungry second half team we saw against Wisconsin.

Nice first half for Minor...most yards he's had since the Minnesota game last year. He's only been over 100 yards rushing twice prior to today...assuming he'll get there today after a 94 yard half today.

The bugaboo of the season has been the turnovers and so far, so good from that standpoint...7 points coming from that one Lions' fumble.

Memo to RichRod--

Nicolette Sheridan is a better QB than Nick Sheridan. Go back to Threet ASAP.

surprised this is the better game of the two..

psu winning sets up an epoch battle in columbus. a michigan win, opens the door for a tie in the big(11)ten if osu loses to psu.. interesting..

I ask nicely and I receive...46-17. Pretty darn close to my prediction also (unfortunately).

On to next week to hopefully further ruin State's season...that's pretty much all that's there to play for when you're 2-5.

Props to UM for a heck of a first half. I was pretty worried there for a while. If UM stays down this season, they won't stay there next. They are very talented, and they will dramatically improve.

Any time with sig, friend...

PSUFAN wrote:Props to UM for a heck of a first half. I was pretty worried there for a while. If UM stays down this season, they won't stay there next. They are very talented, and they will dramatically improve.

The combination of a new coach with a young team has lead to wildly inconsistent play. It's been a humbling year for WolverineFan but the ones who are a little more understanding aren't jumping to conclusions.

Of the games they've lost, they've been blown out by two teams that are much better than them...Penn State and Illinois. The other three losses, you had a close loss against a team that is currently unbeaten, the Notre Dame game shouldn't have been a rout but the turnovers made it a lot worse and the Toledo game...as embarrassing as it was, they could've tied it at the end and went to OT.

I'd only consider the Toledo and Notre Dame losses as "bad losses" this year. Losing to Penn State, Illinois and Utah isn't an embarrassment in my book. Getting routed in two of those games is a little tougher to take but they were thumped by superior teams.

Yeah, I'm trying to rationalize a season that a lot of people are probably being irrational about. You have to look at the big picture and right now it's ugly right now but it should be get better next year. I said it before, I'm giving RichRod a pass for this year but next season, there better be some progress and at the very least, some more consistent play and much fewer unforced physical and mental errors.

i think threet's shown adequate progress that we can be confident in his stewardship next year. his accuracy leaves a bit to be desired, but he's enough of a threat downfield that penn state had to respect the passing game early on, which opened up a lot of running room. he's also shown himself mobile enough to to actually thrive in this offense. nothing near pat white, obviously, but i was happy with what i saw today. it's hard to keep in mind that he is only a freshman.

re: sheridan, i'm pretty sure dickrod understands how horrible he is. regardless of the stupid shit the announcers say, he's not in there to "shake things up," he's in there because threet's arm has gone chad henne on us. all the bitching about dickrod fails to account for the fact he's handicapped when it comes to the personnel he has available at qb and o line. i wish they'd just burn feagin's redshirt and stick him in there. he can't throw any worse than sheridan, and it's not like we'll have to depend on him four years from now. that or carlos brown.

congrats, psu. i hope you whoop up on osu and represent the big ten right in the bcs.
