Cottrell Axed by Bolts..
...from first to last in defense in one year?? Bout time they did something. The Bolt defense can't get off the field...giving up around 35 pts. per game. Anything should be an improvement...Rivera should be an upgrade...hopefully
THE NEWS...Fanball
Defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell has been fired by the Chargers, according to their official team website.
The Chargers had Super Bowl expectations this season, but are currently 3-5 and field the league's 28th ranked defense. Cottrell will be relieved by Ron Rivera, who had success as the Bears' defensive coordinator while leading them to Super Bowl XLI.

I see the Norv Turner experiment is working as expected?
Enjoy the mediocrity San Diego.

Yeah, Raider Nation and Skinfan were way off base in thier "Norv fucking sucks" stance.BSmack wrote:I see the Norv Turner experiment is working as expected?

Bottom line is while Cotrell smokes vein riddled tapiocca blasters, Norv's laid back "aww shucks" attitude has finally taken its toll on a team that was MUCH more disciplined and competetive under Marty.
Where's dumbfuck Chargerslit who proclaimed that a super bowl was inevitable because Norv has "much more talent on this team than he has ever had on any other"
Even if the Blots can manage (buwahahaha) to clinch this shit division, they will get fucking rolled mercilessly in the first round of the playoffs.
Your 2008 Chargettes: No fucking fire or heart.
Truly, this is a Norval coached group.

Isn't it about time you fuffill your end of the bargain and whisper sweet nothings about the Cowboys? The Bolts defense has sucked since day one of the season and I don't think they are going to get it back anytime soon.trev wrote:Woot! Woot!

Re: Cottrell Axed by Bolts..
Not yet, Dfan. Your team isn't any better off than mine right now. We are in the same boat.
Re: Cottrell Axed by Bolts..
This move does nothing except perhaps facify the fans for a few days ... until the next 30+ pt bomb is dropped on them.
You can blame your demise on injuries, etc, but James is right, of course.
Norv is a lip dick.
This is your reality.
The wheels have fallen off.
The window is closed.

We are actually standing higher in our division. But all in all, not much of a difference. Or obstacles to overcome.R-Jack wrote:3-5, 5-3..........yeah, what's the diff?

My teams performance had nothing to do with you slobbing all over Jerry's nuts. I think its time you came correct and serviced Cowboy fan like you said you would. And trev, we're not in the same boat. As bad as the drama is in Big D here are reasons why we're not:trev wrote:Not yet, Dfan. Your team isn't any better off than mine right now. Pass Defense: Boys 14 Bolts 32
Rush Defense: Boys 11 Bolts 16
Total Defense: Boys 10 Bolts 28
Overall record: Boys 5-3 Bolts 3-5
We're waiting.
:D
Re: Cottrell Axed by Bolts..
You act as if you are leading your division and not about to get punked by the G Men. Talk to me when you're not sporting a skins av, sweetie.
Re: Cottrell Axed by Bolts..
Is the loss of Merriman been that big of an impact on that defense? Turner mentioned in the cuts I've seen on SportsCenter talking about they need to get more pressure on the passer. I think that's code for "we don't have anyone to take Merriman's place". Rivera is a proven d-coor...he coached the Bears defense to a Super Bowl a couple years ago. Granted, he ran a 4-3 scheme over there and this is a 3-4 but I think he'll do alright.
They're a game and a half behind the Broncos with half the season to go...I don't think you can count them out in that mediocre division. If they can fix some of their problems, they score enough points to put themselves in position to win on most weeks. In three of their five losses, they've scored at least 24 points. Those would've been wins last year with how their defense played.

Re: Cottrell Axed by Bolts..
It's both the loss of Merriman and Cottrell. Conttrell has been terrible this year. At least last year we had a pass rush and did fine without Merriman for 4 games. We should still have enough talent to get after these teams. Not going to be easy. This will cause some controversy but we've had awfuls calls at the absolute worst times this year. I know it happens. They should be able to overcome those. I hope to see Norv doing the salsa dance once again this year.

Re: Cottrell Axed by Bolts..
You are missing the point trev. Put down the bottle and listen. I am acting as if your teams defense sucks cack. You said they would improve or you'd praise the Boys. Well things haven't changed and its about time you live up to your end of the bargain.trev wrote:You act as if you are leading your division and not about to get punked by the G Men. How the Cowboys are doing is irrelevant. Everyone with two eyes knows the Boys are going to get worked this week and are a drama case from top to bottom in the organization. But that doesn't change the fact to what you already wrote. Now get on those knees and do some servicing.
