Reminds of the infomercial of that white guy begging for 5 cents a day to feed a villiage in some poor country. They show images of the water supply polluted much like in the picture above and kids playing on train tracks..

If they're so fucking poor then why is their water polluted with so many milk cartons and cereal boxes?? As for the kids playing on train tracks, they show that image like it's a bad thing. When I was a lot younger I used to put small stones along the train tracks and watch the amtrak trains pulverise the rocks causing sparks.

So in conclusion, maybe they need to stop throwing their cereal and milk into the water and eat it instead.

That would be 1.67 tons per square mile. A ton is 2,000 pounds. So that is 3,330 lbs of floating plastic per square mile.

A square mile is 5,280' x 5,280'. This means that there is 27,878,400 square feet per square mile.

That means there is about 0.0001194473140495867768595041322314 lbs of plastic per square foot in the Pacific Ocean.

That is the same as 0.0019111570247933884297520661157025 ounces per square foot of ocean.

An ounce weighs 28350 miligrams.

So there are about 54.18 miligrams of plastic per square foot of Pacific Ocean.
