RIP

Look at the coffin, with golden handles
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead?

Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry
And always remember: The longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody-well die

Look at the flowers, all bloody withered
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead?

Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry
And always remember: The longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody-well die

Look at the mourners, bloody-great hypocrites
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead?

Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry
And always remember: The longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody-well die

Look at the preacher, a bloody-nice fellow
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead?

Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry
And always remember: The longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody-well die

Look at the widow, bloody-great female
Isn't it grand, boys, to be bloody-well dead?

Let's not have a sniffle, let's have a bloody-good cry
And always remember: The longer you live
The sooner you'll bloody-well die

My parents are gone.
My in-laws are gone as of last year.

Now my sister-in-law has cancer.

It's when your siblings start to go that it's time to feel really old.

The Experience are back together up in Rock 'N Roll Heaven...didn't know that Noel Redding died back in 2003...was curious and looked that up.

How many great classic rock bands' entire lineup is no longer alive?
Conversely, how many bands still have every guy still alive?

Cream did a reunion show not too long ago with all three guys...they immediately come to mind as far as having every member still alive. Sabbath, The Yardbirds, The Beatles, Zeppelin, The Stones, The Who...they've lost a few guys but there are still some surviving members.

For as good of shape Mick is in for his age...he'll probably croke before Keif. That guy defies medical science.

All this talk of dead rockers has me thinking, if I could play god and bring back 5, who would they be?

My 5 in order of importance .....

1. SRV- best blues geetarist, evah. Make that best geetarist period.

2. Jon Bonham- His passing brought to an end the best heavy metal band in history. I'd like to think that had he not went and got himself dead, heavy metal would not have gone to shit. And we might have been spared it's unfortunate offspring, big hair metal.

3. Jimi- Not as good as SRV, imo, but, without him we might not have an SRV.

4. John Lennon- Seemed like he was just getting back into the game when that crazy fukk offed him. I'd like to thing that maybe he and McCartney might have eventually patched things up once he realized that yoko was a no talent miserable cunt. Ofcourse if they did patch it up and the beatles got back together and spent 20 years sukking like the stones, I guess he's better off dead.

5. Hmmmm, I dunno. One of the dead alman bros, I guess.

1. John Lennon
agree, just wouldn't put him in the top spot. Dude pretty much sat out the 70s. That drops him down some
2. Frank Zappa
don't think frank really had much left in the tank, musically. He had moved on to politics.
3. Jerry Garcia
yeah, I needed him to hang around and play the same old shit a few million more times. thanks, but no thanks.
4. Jimi Hendrix
yup
5. John Bohnam/Kieth Moon
bonham, hell yeah. moon? the world already has too many burnt out drug addicts. if he had died in 1967, it would have been a loss to the musical world. 1980? nahhhh.
I based my list on what could have happened had these guys hung around. SRV was at the top of his fukking game and had a shitload more to do, imo. Everyone on your list made big contributions to rock, but, some of them weren't likely to do much more.

Hey, when you've only got 5 golden tickets to hand out, there's going to be some quality left off the list. Also, I'm in no mood to assess what a man's musical motivation might be like after being raised from the dead, but I'm guessing it might very well lead to some serious creative outbursts regardless of what said dude was doing in real life when he kicked.

Besides, if you're playing God you can just time travel to see them whenever the hell you want.

Are we getting these people back at the age they died or what their age would be today?

At the time they died...
1. Jimi Hendrix...I just couldn't see him as an old man though. He was perfect for the 60s.
2. Stevie Ray Vaughan...would be my #1 choice if we went on their age today; he would still be the king of blues guitar if he were still alive today.
3. John Bonham...greatest rock drummer of all-time.
4. John Lennon...would be impactful musically and socially. He'd put Bono's bitch ass in his place.
5. Bon Scott...RACK Mucho on bringing up his name, good call!

Honorable Mention:
Keith Moon
Kurt Cobain...gotta have one from my generation. We wouldn't have Foo Fighters though and that would suck.

Mitch was a great drummer, and moreover the prime reason for Hendrix developing quickly into the real Jimi rather than a flash in the pan that he would have been with a boogaloo backbeat thumper like Buddy Miles. He understood jazz--and that Jimi's scope and vision required breaking out of the four-square parameters of rock 'n roll, etc.

Third Stone From The Sun is all you need to know about how SKILL Mitch Mitchell was. Both him and Noel Redding were criminally underrated, but then again, when you play with Hendrix, you're pretty much gonna be.

All of Sly and the Family Stone are still alive. Amazingly.
