Oregon State still has to lose a game inorder for USC to go to the Rose Bowl.
Oregon State and USC both win out then 2 Pac 10 teams will be in BCS Bowls

That would be a travesty on the level of Chernobyl and the WTC and Pearl Harbor.

Sin,

Nick Saban

He's either:

1. Trolling
2. Dumber than all fucking belief.
Unfortunately, he’s probably right. OSU would be automatic to the Rose, and a BCS bowl picking at large would not ignore USC.

Its a fact, if OSU and USC both win out, both will be in BCS Bowls. Oregon State will be in the Rose Bowl by way of their win over USC and USC would get an at large birth cause at 11-1, they would be in the top 8. Im sorry that you have a hard time understanding that

OSU won't win out. Cal will take care of that rather easily.

While U$C has lost it's last two games at OSU.

Cal simply thumps the Beavers in Oregon.

Last two in Oregon....

49-7

41-13.

I'd take the Meineke Bowl right now, especially the way we are playing, but St. Petersburg Bowl is most likely.

The Capital One bowl vs a top flight SEC team would be a hell of bowl for MSU, considering most people thought they wouldn't be better than a 7 win team.

The Rose isn't out of the question. They control their own destiny...except for that slight little issue of needing to beat Penn St on the road. I don't expect them to win that game though, and I'm not looking past Purdue either.

FedEx Orange Bowl
North Carolina (ACC Champ) vs. Cincinnati (Big East Champ)
what a joke the bcs is. neither of those teams deserve a bcs bowl, let alone a new years day bowl.. they should be playing an afternoon bowl game, the 2nd week in december

People knock polls, and rightfully so, but they're still a better representation of America's "best teams" than any system involving automatic conference qualifiers. In addition, if we had a playoff, it would be a travesty to see Cincy get a berth over other clearly more qualified teams.

True, but St. Pete is nowhere near as nice as Charlotte is and we'd be playing a C-USA (or a Sun Belt if C-USA does not have enough eligible teams) team as opposed to an ACC team in Charlotte.

Hell, I'd go back to Birmingham now since the SEC is affiliated with the PapaJohn's.com Bowl.

Don't count on an SEC opponent in the PapaJohn's.com Bowl this year. I don't think the Meatgrinder will produce enough bowl-eligible teams.

I see them two short with the at-large BCS bid.

Alabama
Florida
Georgia
LSU
South Carolina
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Vandy

Those teams go bowling. Auburn and Tennessee are, of course, the two glaring omissions from that list. Tennessee needs to win out, and isn't playing well enough right now to pull that off. Auburn needs to beat either Georgia or Alabama to get to six wins -- not gonna happen.

I don't see Arkansas or Mississippi State having much chance at six wins, either.

The Vegas bowl is an awful long drop for Oregon State who has UCLA this week and right now has the inside track to the Rose Bowl.

Id rather see Oregon State in the Rose Bowl vs Ohio State and USC in the Fiesta vs Alabama. And Id bet that the Fiesta people would rather see that too

When you made this prediction UNC was second to last in its divsion. With the win over GT today, UNC is in a 4-way tie for first in the coastal.

IF FSU can get there, I see the Noles taking the championship game. But FSU needs a WF loss in the next 3 games

After Va Tech's loss to Miami, UNC controls its own destiny in the Coastal. Win out and they're in the championship game.

Maryland controls its own destiny in the Atlantic. Either FSU or Wake (needs FSU to beat Maryland) needs help.

If they win out, Iowa will go to the Outback, not Northwestern. At 8-4, and 5-3 in the Big 10, they will have jumped past Minnesota in the standings, and will be tied with Northwestern, as well as 1 game back of Michigan State (assuming MSU gets beat by PSU next week). Iowa would be in 6th place in the Big 10, exactly where they were in 2005 when they finished the regular season 7-4 and jumped several teams for the Outback bid. First off, Iowa is much better than their 6-4 record would suggest. They should be 10-0 right now, and looking at the Rose Bowl. They aren't, but bowl reps know that this is a good team, and the Outback had reps at the Penn State game. You can bet they weren't there to look at the Nittany Lions. Iowa also has a fan base that travels very well (their big ticket to Tampa in '05). They are good for at least 30,000 fans, no matter what. A matchup with South Carolina would seem likely (unless SC beat Florida this week, in which case we would play either LSU or Georgia), and that could be very interesting. I wouldn't mind another game with the Tigers, though.

I seriously don't know why you assume I'm somebody posting under multiple nics. I wouldn't even know what the hell "transparent troll" meant if I hadn't just asked my dad, who posts on this site, what it means. Just because I come off as an Iowa homer doesn't mean that I'm jon, or whoever the hell you're talking about. I probably come off as a homer because I'm a freshman at Iowa who has missed exactly one Iowa football game in the last 6 years, and that was because I went on a date. Even then I tried to catch the game on the radio with headphones.

Exactly how hard is it to figure out that the Outback wants Iowa, and is going to get them if the Hawks win out? Reps at the Penn State game, Iowa has a commanding lead in the fan vote (they had 63% of the vote last I saw) for the Big 10 representative, and they're a pretty solid football team that's getting hot at the right time.

That's great that you Mizzou fans think you can talk shit because you think you're so good now. Last year, yes, you were that good. This year? Overrated. And once Daniel, Maclin, and Coffman are gone (and that's likely to be in the near future. Near future meaning by the deadline to declare this winter), you might not be in such good shape. I seem to remember your boys pussing out of games against Iowa a few years ago. And they have a good looking record this year at 8-2, until you look at the schedule and see that in the two games against team that are good, Oklahoma State and Texas, and they get beat. And Oklahoma State just got embarrassed by Tech. Mizzou has beaten nobody.

No, I missed the deadline for flag football this year, as I was worried about making the club baseball team. I plan on doing both next year, though, and I'm also quite good with sports trivia (in particular college football), and there's an intramural for that, lol.

They lost one starter on defense and little on offense, obviously. Essentially, it's the same team as last year, just with higher expectations going in. So naturally, they're a disappointment. But they still have plenty to play for.

Mostly, yes, it's the same team. The loss of Temple really hurt them, IMO. They aren't as balanced as last year, when Daniel could throw all day if he wanted, and they were able to keep teams guessing on the ground (Temple......Maclin......which one's gettin the damn ball?).

What really hurt them was getting big fucking heads - thinking they were all that and a bag of chips. Started reading their clips and believing the ranking.

They looked past Okie State and paid the price.

Besides that, opposing teams with credible defenses used the OU template from last year. That is, get pressure on Daniel and he'll throw some picks.

But Mizzou's running game isn't as potent as last year, or at least not used as much as it could be. Just looking at last year's numbers:

Carries: 530
Yards: 2467
YPC: 4.7
TD: 29

2008

Carries: 308
Yards: 1623
YPC: 5.3
TD: 23

2007 was also a little more balanced, with 4 players gaining at least 250 yards (Temple, Maclin, Jackson, and Daniel) and all four of them had at least 4 TD's. This year, They currently have only 1 such rusher (Washington). Maclin and Moore might break that plateau if they get a few carries, but after that, it drops off. And only Washington and Jackson have 4 or more TD's.

Agree on the Washington part. Disagree that it is the OU template. Good defenses can pressure Missouri with only 4 and therefore can shut down players like Maclin who are slightly above average.

Honestly, I will take our QB Clement over Daniel.

blitzing teams in the spread is hardly a team specific "template".

Snyder, Bennett, and KSU did it to Josh Heupel twice and lost twice in 2000. That KSU team was a legit top 5 team. they ass-raped Tennessee in their bowl game.

Maclin only "slightly above average"?

Are you trolling me?

Next thing, you'll be telling me that Coffman is just a mediocre TE.

They'll both be playing on Sunday in the very near future.

Let's keep it that way. Don't need any punkazz newb laying the law down on their first day, no matter the pedigree.

I'm quite impressed thus far, though his Mizzou running game numbers tend to not add up to the point he was trying to make... but those are just details.

All in all, this son of yours writes well beyond his years.

Ya, I forgot that Mizzou would win the North, so they play 13 regular season games, not 12, so I thought they were considerably behind their 2007 rushing pace. My bad. But they aren't as balanced as far as who get how many yards. Washington is the only one gaining any serious yardage, and the only one that poses a real threat (I'd count Maclin, but he's not getting as many carries because they're utilizing him more as a receiver; he's certainly better than "slightly above average").
