Anyone follow iAA playoffs?
Poor Rhett Bomar and his new team lost to the campinfool's alma matter Texas State Bobcats Saturday. The win game Texas State their first conference championship since their DivII heyday of 1982 under Jim Wacker. Since then the Bobcats have been awful with a few decent seasons mixed in under Dennis Francionne and current Rice coach David Bailiff. Pretty good year of pig skin for the campin family with the daughter's HS making the playoffs, the alma matter making the playoffs, Texas being suprisingly better than expected, and my daughter's drumline placing 1st place in the state finals. Anyway, that is enough boasting.

Re: Anyone follow iAA playoffs?
Jim Wacker coached TCU from 84- 91 I beleive. He had them bowl eligible in his first year and was poised to make a breakout in 1985 when he found some NCAA violations in the form of payments being made to players and he booted the offenders off the team and turned the school in for the infractions. TCU was ripped of scholarships and never really rebounded. I'm not sure if he resigned or was fired but he went on to coach Minnesota for a couple of seasons in the 90s. He then became AD of Texas State in 1998 and remained there until he died from cancer in 03. Texas State has named their field in his honor. Texas State was originally called Southwest Texas State in the past and that is the name that is graces my degree. He was a man defined by integrity and I still think many TCU faithful still dislike him because his turnaround of the Frogs was crushed when he spoke up.

I will be.
Texas State got in due to Central Ark not being eligible for the D1AA playoffs this year.
Montana is a hard draw to have right out the gate.

Yeah, by drawing a road game against Montana I figure TX State will be one and done. Hopefully they pull off the upset since it is their 2nd post season trip since 1982.

It will be a good game and I will be there. I have been doing some scouting of Texas State and it looks like they have some really good athletes. Plus, with all the HS talent that Texas produces - you know they are going to have players. Cameron Luke looks like a total stud and your QB is a monster. Gotta love playoff football!
FWIW, they broke out our traditional colors for our rivalry game with Montana State last weekend. They did a really good job of keeping it under wraps; even the players didn't know until gameday that they were doing it. The crowd went apeshit when they ran out of the tunnel.
That's JD Quinn (of Oklahoma car dealership infamy) getting in Bobcat player's face in the last pic.
