The Bedlam Series
Isn't that what they call OU vs. OSU? I won't pretend to know much about it, but in visiting some 'poke homer board earlier this year, I got the distinct impression that they really, really despise everything about SoonerNation. It looked like an inferiority complex bordering on the irrational... or almost as bad as MU hates KU. Any insight into this will be welcome.
Anyways, I shall be looking forward to this game. I look for OU to win handily, but it wouldn't surprise me if OSU could pull off the big upset. Just like it won't surprise me if KU beats Mizzou earlier. These rivalry games quite often aren't won by the better team. See Texas beating OU.
As Mizzoufan, I should root for OSU... that way we get T.T. in the Big XII title game who I believe we have a much better chance of beating and thus scoring the Fiesta Bowl. But a part of me wants to see OU at Arrowhead and see if we can't get some revenge over last years double beatdown.
Either way, should be a good game.

with all of the KU-MU tickets being sold for under face value(beakers getting desperate, and folding on their team), why the hell aren't you going to camerohead for Border War????? I could understand last season, with tickets being sold out before general admission were sold(KU was home team and got 60% of tickets), but this season the beakers are quitting on their shit team and i seen bleeders for $10 a ticket. I bought mine from KU.com, 2+ months ago, MU sold their tickets to season ticket holders and boosters, so had to get them from beakers. But i did.
If you don't want to drive 2 hours to CoMo to catch a game, we'll that's your thing, but it's in your back yard and your not going??????
eh, fuck it, i don't care, but it seriously makes no sense, as a MU fan.

OU/Okie st
Unlike tech, i think Okie st is a better match up with OU, they have better athletes to matchup in this game. Okie is going to run the ball, and set up the pass, this is more of a problem for OU than a 1 dimensional Tech team.Tech has run more this season, and not just use it to keep the blitz and lb's honest, but they don't have the backs and QB, who can run the ball and use the option as a weapon.
Okie light has played Sooners tough in Stillwater, no reason to expect that to change.
Okie 37
OU 33

Re: The Bedlam Series
adel, in my younger days I went to many sporting events, but these days I'm just more comfortable sitting at home watching on TV for free and not paying $7 for a beer, $20 for parking, not fighting traffic, etc.
As I get older, I tend to seek the path of least amount of aggravation. There's no DUI checkpoints in my living room either, which is nice.
Enjoy the game, bro. Make up a sign that says "Wags is a pussy" and I'll see if I can spot you.

Re: The Bedlam Series
OSU typically plays their guts out in this game, and yeah, it's called "Bedlam," a fact that the local car dealerships and other advertisers tend to drill into the ground in really, really uncreative ways about this time of year -- rather annoying, to say the least.War Wagon wrote:I look for OU to win handily, but it wouldn't surprise me if OSU could pull off the big upset.
[Dinsdale] Outside of the Texas game, lots of folks 'round these parts have been looking to this game as being OU's toughest test of the season, from the start, this year. [/Dinsdale]
With the recent expansion of Boone Pickens Stadium, OSU has a true home-field advantage, or at least much more so than in past years. It's been a hell of a lot louder in that place, by all accounts.
It could be a debacle for both OSU and ABC, however, because OSU's atheltic director, Mike Holder, instituted a no single-game ticket sales policy before this year's season. Basically, he didn't want OSU fans purchasing only tickets for the OU game. It forced a lot of OSU fans to purchase season tickets.
What the policy means, at least as of earlier this week, is that there could be as many as 13,000 empty seats for Saturday's game.

Fans for both teams want OSU to change this decision, but Holder says they aren't going do it.
Even with this idiotic policy (given it's the last game of the regular season), there still may be as many as 5,000 OU fans there, so the home-field advantage my be negated, somewhat.
One other thing ... OU is 8-0 in these games when both teams are ranked.
That, of course, bodes well for OU, but it also means a streak like that is going to end, at some point.
Personally, I don't see it ending on Saturday. If the OU team that obliterated Tech last week shows up, it won't even be a game. If the other OU team shows up, it will be a nail-biter.
Btw, Wags/Adel, I heard that the crowd split this weekend at Arrowhead will break down to about 65 percent Mizzou fans vs. 35 KU. True? Also, I'm predicting about 60-70 percent Mizzou fans for the Big XII championship game, whether it's OU, Texas or Tech. Does that sound about right?
Last time I was at Arrowhead for that game in 2006, it was 65-70 percent Nebraska fans. Truman, (a huge Mizzou fan) whose place we stayed in KCMO, swore to me that if Mizzou ever made it to that game the fans would show up like the Nebraska fans did.
Re: The Bedlam Series
it could be 75%+ pro mu by gametime
KU fans ready for BBAll, they have bailed.
And MU fans were buying big12 title tickets in march, and continue to purchase,. should be a home crowd, %, im not sure

Re: The Bedlam Series
OU will need to play one of it's better games of the year to win. troubling to me is that the only time OU has played into the 4th quarter they lost.
OSU will be sky high. this is their Super Bowl.
Poke fans are what my pops used to call "closet aggies". there's a lot more of them than you think around the state and a lot of your fans who buy their t-shirts at the Quick Trip switch allegiances when the Pokies are legit, but they only show when the Pokes are winning or have a chance. i have a cousin in law who is real good guy and went to OSU is from an OSU family and all that....and in 03 at Thanksgiving when OU was "the greatest team of all time" before KSU drilled OU in the XII championship game and he shows up wearing an OU hat. I almost fell off my chair. he married into an OU family and his pop in law (my uncle) played for OU, but that's just too much. that's how some Pokes are.
it's never been a love fest, but this "rivalry" has really taken a hateful turn in the last 5-6 years from my living out of state opinion.

Adel,
As long as Mr. Botox isn't involved with BCS negotiations in about 4 years, he can have his game, as far as I'm concerned.
On the other hand, if it means a CFB playoff game could be held in his new crib, bring his ass in.
KC, yep. The rivalry game will be interesting, this year, to say the least, especially if there are more than about 10,000 empty seats.

Re: The Bedlam Series
I think that's how the tickets were allotted, since it is a "home" game for Mizzou. And KU fans are bailing like M2 out of Berkeley after two weeks of 100-level classes. Mizzou should hang 50 on this defense.RadioFan wrote: Btw, Wags/Adel, I heard that the crowd split this weekend at Arrowhead will break down to about 65 percent Mizzou fans vs. 35 KU. True?
Re: The Bedlam Series
they are bringing out the gold for the Border War(or big12 title game). if they wear gold jerseys and gold pants, they deserve to lose, cause it would look very ghey. Stores just received them(friday), so i expect them to use them Saturday! Just say no to gold on gold!
