I just looked at the average points scored for each team in a conference game in the bigger conferences. Since you equate scoring lots of points to shitty defenses, here's how the numbers look:
Big XII - 33 ppg
Pac 10 - 26 ppg
Big 10 - 24 ppg
SEC - 22 ppg
ACC - 21 ppg
Personally, I just think these spread offenses are so much harder to defend against. The fact so many coaches in the XII have gone to this has bumped the scoring up. It's a gimmick offense, but it's a hell of a gimmick if you have the right people running it. So, if scoring points means defense sucks, how's it feel to have a worse defense than the ACC?
We'll see in the bowl games.
Ok, here's the XII's bowl games. Let's have your take on these before the games occur.
Valero Alamo
Missouri vs. Northwestern
Misery will put up 50 points in this game. Their defense is average at best, but so is Northwestern's. Either way, this game gives no merit to your statement that the XII has no defense nor do I think it will give much merit to what I consider the fact that the offenses are that good. So this one is a push in my book.
Pacific Life Holiday
Oklahoma State vs. Oregon
Another shootout. What I said about the Alamo goes here too.
Insight
Kansas vs. Minnesota
Kansas offense isn't that great, but I wouldn't be surprised if they put up 30+ on Minnesota. Not a good game to judge either.
Konica Minolta Gator
Nebraska vs. Clemson
Another copycat game. This time, compare to the Kansas game.
AT&T Cotton
Ole Miss vs. Texas Tech
tceh will buttfuck this SEC team in the mouth, the same team who beat floiduh. 50+ points for tceh. no more than 24 for ole miss.
Tostitos Fiesta
Ohio State vs. Texas
t.u. will score 40+ against a good OSU defense.
FedEx BCS National Championship Game
Florida vs. Oklahoma
OU won't score 60+, but we're comparing the XII's average score vs. XII opponents here. I believe that was 33 points per game. OU will reach that against the #2 team in the nation and the #1 team in the SEC. Will it be enough to win? I don't know. But that's not what we're arguing here.
So, either get specific and call your shots like I did here or you have no leg to stand on.
