Steelers-Cowboys aftethoughts

Post by BSmack »

The only thing that could possibly make Romo's last minute INT even more enjoyable to me was knowing that I had started Pittsburgh's defense in my other FFL league and that runback by Townshend gave me a 15 point instead of a 7 point cushion going into tonight's game (I have Matt Bryant and my opponent has Warrick Dunn).

This season started with a lot of questions for the Steelers, especially for the offensive and defensive lines. And, with the "toughest schedule" in the NFL looming before them, I honestly thought a successful season would be barely winning their division and putting up a good fight in their wild-card round game. Now, if they win their next two games, they will lock up a first round bye, and possibly could get home field for the entire playoffs if the Titans slip up against Houston or Indy.

To say this season has been beyond my wildest expectations would be a vast understatement. I still have my doubts that they will be able to run the table in January. But it sure is looking more and more likely.

Trev, you better get on the bandwagon before Paul decides to pile on and the shocks go all to hell. Will you be bringing Vodka?

I know defense wins championships and all, but that offense is putrid!! As an owner of Big Ben and Holmes I must say I expected more out of them. The Squeelers are winning in spite of Big Ben. Reminds me of the Super Bowl win a couple of years ago.....

I think the whole offense is to blame. Big Ben is holding onto the ball far too long. Granted there are a few plays where he has no time, but others where he just holds it forever. The line is bad, but not the only reason....

It looks like I'll be on someone's bandwagon but I doubt it'll be the Steelers.

7 times out of 10, Ben's scrambling gets him into trouble. I have to basically agree with your take. I am screaming at him after a couple of seconds on every pass play.

Those other three times pretty much make up for the 7, though - like that pass to Holmes late in the game. That was a perfectly thrown ball.

I agree, also that the OL is pretty bad at pass-blocking. Ben has been able to handle pressure better than just about any other QB could. Were he not as tough as he is, mentally and physically, they would be an 8 loss team, probably. They are a three loss team.

If the Steelers are going anywhere this year, it is because of the sick defense. Hell, even Townshend is stepping up...which is really saying something in my book.

Harrison, Woodley, Palumalu, and Smith are definite pro-bowlers this year.

My afterthoughts from seeing this game in its entirity:

What nobody is talking about is how dominant the Dallas defense has become. The Steelers are a complete fraud who got lucky yesterday and their defense is so overrated. Dallas was asskicking the Steelers up and down the field yesterday and let some third string rookie run wild over that "vaunted" "#1" Defense.
That shows not only how overrated the Steelers are on D, but how deep the Cowboys are on offense. You know you're loaded when your third stringer is having a field day like Choice had. Meanwhile Dallas' defense imposed its will on the Steelers all afternoon.

Pittsburgh will be a solid playoff team but once again they suck ass in goalline situations and on third and short. The dallas goalline stand was evident of that. A true championship team would have pounded the rock in the end zone. And stop talking about how the Steelers o-line sucks. It doesn't suck. It was just manhandled by the Dallas defense which was lights out yesterday.

When the fuck does 3.8 yards per carry on 23 carries translate to "running wild"?

That doesn't show anything about the Steelers D. On the other hand, your post reveals you to be a retarded cum swilling douchnozzle.

First of all, that's about twice the average as that pussy Willie Parker who ran for 12 carries, 25 yards against the swarming defense of the Cowboys  And Moore isn't good, either.
Second, you're forgetting about his receiving yards which were from dumpoff passes and the Steelers couldn't catch him.
I've seen some Steelers games this year and those third down and goalline situations are going to do them in come January. Like on that goalline stand by Dallas...did you see that when that guy posing as a running back got mauled a yard behind the line of scrimmage and then the whole Dallas defense started high-stepping off the field to the sideline? Get used to that sight this year. Actually I'd be interested to see both of these teams in a rematch in February on a neutral field, good weather.

Jerkoff, you need to take one very important thing into account before you orgasm into your miniature Cowgirl helmet again.

Any team that got their ass beaten...badly...by a team as horrible as the St. Louis Rams are, is not going to any Superbowl.

Supposed great teams don't lose to doormats.

EOS.

And you're missing one VERY important point.....Tony Romo was injured for that game.

Ah yes, the all important "pinky" excuse.

Just as I'm sure you'll have another excuse ready when the 'Pokes miss the playoffs entirely.

But I'm sure you have that one in the bank already, don't you?

Was he the one assigned to tackle Steven Jackson who went for 160 and 3tds? Tell me again how great that Dallas Defense is again?

That's true, jim, but that was like back in October. That was before Wade Phillips took over, handling that D. You have to look at who is hot NOW. And The Dallas D has only gotten better and better every game over the last month or so. It's cohesive and works together and it's obvious that Wade is working it. And it's only going to get better. Who do the Giants have on offense that will do anything Sunday night? Jacobs is hurt, Ward is going to put up 12 carries for 24 maybe, and don't even talk about Bradshaw. Scatback pussies cannot get to the perimeter because this is the fastest defense in the NFC if not the NFL. And did you see all those drops by Hixon and company Sunday? Withour Plaxico they are fucked and will continue to be fucked.

Keith Davis, Anthony Henry, mike Jenkins, all those guys in the secondary.....they were swatting down passes when they weren't blanketing the receivers and making Big Ben get sacked. On Sunday you'll see a lot of that followed by one of those Dallas d-backs getting up after swatting an Eli pass down and giving the "incomplete" signal.

Unfortunately for you, it was a healthy Romo that fell apart in most vaginal fashion during the 4th quarter against the Steelers last Sunday.
