Swisher seemed to be an odd man out in Chicago and they add a versatile infielder in Betemit. Swisher coming in probably means the end of Jason Giambi in the Bronx.

Of course, Giambi was probably going to be gone from the Yankees no matter what. Too much salary and too little productivity to justify picking up the option on his contract at age 37. Not to mention the admitted steroid use.

Jeter, Rivera, Pettitte, Posada, Williams, Leyritz, Ramiro Mendoza, Ledee, Spencer, among others.

What they did intelligently was made trades for those guys you mention. My problem is the Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright, Gary Sheffield, Hideki Irabu, Damon, etc.....shit head FA signings they made for huge money and they're back to their ways of the 70's and 80's where they're throwing money around like there's no tomorrow. Why spend so damn much money for CC Pavano when you can go after a guy like Ben Sheets, or Peavy for a hell of a lot less and they're comparable pitchers.

Crede was pretty much on borrowed time Chicago last year with how Fields turned heads at the end of '06. I think they lose quite a bit defensively...Crede is arguably the best glove at third in the AL. It'll be a revamped infield in Chicago with Konerko being the mainstay at first...Ramirez moves to short, Fields takes over at third and Getz or Nix at second. Crede should fit in well in Minnesota...still can hit well and is strong defensively.
