Good for him but he's coming off a very bad year as the coordinator of a horrible defensive team like Louisville but I hope that goes well for him over there. Minority or not, EMU has been crap for a while...they've got a lot of catching up to do with CMU and WMU, let alone State and Michigan. He's got a tough job ahead of him.

the problem with ypsi is you have to be very selective with your view finder. anything over 1000 pixels and you lose the ability to pretend ypsi isn't, well, ypsi.

it's the mac, so turning around a program is simply a matter of hiring the right guy. buffalo was buffalo till turner gill came along, and central was pretty much a rural emu till kelly took that job. also, i think northern illinois set the record for longest losing streak two years before winning the conference. [though they might have just played in the ccg. i forget exactly.] but there are no traditional powers in the conference. the best a program can do is remain consistent. i really don't understand why eastern's never been able to stumble into a decent record here and there, especially in light of what central's been able to do. both are shite ghetto schools with mediocre facilities, except one's in the boondoggles and the other's close to detroit. you'd think that'd benefit eastern. i can see limited success against the ohio schools considering mac teams rely so heavily on in-state recruiting, and michigan is pretty much the prep suck. western, i should point out, is in a pretty nice town.

i think the best record eastern's put up since i knew it existed was 6-5 my senior year in high school, and that was with charlie batch. i'd really like to see a winning record before i die, which may sooner than i planned considering the roads here in pdx. i'm not sure if english is the right dude, but i guess that's what you get when your search committee consists of lloyd carr and lloyd carr's sense of duty to the failures he employed at michigan.

Seriously though...as long as EMU at least interviewed the token white dude, I'm ok with this. If not, I"m sure the ACLU will be knocking on the AD's door soon.
