OK--we know now about vision problems--what about hearing ?
I suffer from tinnitus. I have a constant ringing/chirping in my hearing perception. I have learned to pretty much block it out, however it makes it hard to hear things like people's voices especially if there is enough background noise. There really isn't much that can be done about it. That along with inability to hear specific frequencies make me realize that when I listen to music, I miss out of some of its richness. For example, I have a nice Bose radio in my den, but it doesn't really sound much different than a cheap GE clock radio in my bedroom.
I'm guessing I am not alone in here.

If you hear voices that you know aren't there is it considered a hearing problem?

It appears all you republicans have a hard time listening.Wolfman wrote:I suffer from tinnitus. I have a constant ringing/chirping in my hearing perception. I have the exact same issue. Can't stand going to busy bars for that reason.Jsc810 wrote:If there is a lot of background noise, at a restaurant for example, then it is difficult for me to understand words. I can hear the sound, but it is kinda like the adults talking in a Charlie Brown show, can't really understand the words.

He meant monkey bars, Cuda. Of course he prefers playgrounds, just not overly busy ones.Cuda wrote:Naturally; that's why you prefer playgroundsDiego in Seattle wrote:

Sometimes too much choice can be so dizzying.

Hey look at the bright side. Save big money, use a tuna fish can and a metal spoon for an iPod. And I bet real soon you'll be able to surprise yourself by wrapping your own presents. And meeting new friends every day.Wolfman wrote:I suffer from tinnitus. I have a constant ringing/chirping in my .... Re: OK--we know now about vision problems--what about hearing ?
I've got the same thing. I've had it since 2005 when I came down with an ear infection. It also involved dizziness and vomiting that lasted a few days. When it passed the ringing remained. I went through a series of tests and a MRI. I'm able to block it out when I'm busy or engaged in activity. Like you, I have to concentrate to listen when there's a lot of background noise.Wolfman wrote:I suffer from tinnitus. I have a constant ringing/chirping in my hearing perception. Thankfully, I'm able to sleep with it and it's not driving me crazy. But, that could change because the condition usually becomes worse instead of better. I heard physical activity minimizes it and I found that it works. Also, stick with Ibuprofen when taking anything for aches and pains. Tylenol increases the ringing sensation. Also heard the use of alcohol does the same thing. Well....
