Sugar Bowl

Post by RadioFan »

'Tide beatdown, ala UGA vs. Hawaii last year, or a nail-biting upset, ala Boise vs. OU a couple of years back?

I'm leaning toward the former, with Fox proclaiming it the greatest game ever.

If Utes win, it might start the War of the States, Part 2.

See, in the parts of the country where deluding onesself is held in higher regard than dental hygene or marrying outside of one's immediate family, a loss to a mid-major might bring their entire cultural foundation crashing down around them...

And they'd barricade themselves inside their "storm cellars"... or whatever those people serve, knowing the one thing they lie like hell to pride themselves on has been exposed as a fraud, before God, GOD, and G0D, and the Meatgrinder will have become nothing more than a hand-cranked orange-juicer.

And we don't want that do we? Teeth, brains, education, and branches on the family tree have eluded these people for generations... can't we leave them the one thing they think they're good at?

Hell, we let their inferior, losing teams have a free pass to the championship game to assauge their fragile egos. So I don't think Utes rolling over for them is too much to ask to keep our country united, is it?

If the Utes win, no doubt there will be those saying they should've been in the MNC game.

I don't see it happening. Bama should crush those fucked up Mormans.

Mace ... dude was being creatively sarcastically cynical, bro.

Ya'll already have at least two other threads in which to play ... this is the Sugar Bowl/make fun of Utah/'Bama thread.

'sayin.

Here's another prediction: Fox will spend an inordinate amount of time talking about the "tradition" of the 1956 or insert year here ______ "Allstate" Sugar Bowl.

Alabama's getting worked early. That was about the easiest TD drive I've seen this year. RACK IT.

Well, it looks like the Big 12 isn't the only overrated "Conference" in the country.

Too funny.

Looks like the best "College Football" is played "West of the the Rockies".

At least Allstate can legitimately claim they were around in 1956, or 1932, for that matter.

The SEC and Big 12 can crawl back into their trailers and hide for another off season.

Don't fret.

Ya'll will hold down the top 20 spots in the top 25 to start the season in 09'.... same as it ever was.

maybe it's memories of the wishbone at OU or running the Houston Veer in jr high and HS but i sure like that motion in the backfield that Utah (and Boise for that matter) runs. heck, i even kinda liked it when Fran used to run that stack formation at ATM.

i don't know...chaos means more raw matter for bullshit punditry; more needless media punditry means more ratings (since i guess people believe that ESPN or FOXsports are the "opinion leaders"); more ratings means $$$$. until it hits someone in the pocketbook, nothing is going to change.

controversy is good for advertisers, sports "journalists" and such right now. hopefully, there's an "up to a point" we may reach soon.

but, that having been said, once the game is underway it's all about the upset or a close game at best.

Bama needs to figure out how to block somebody. JPW has spent a lot of time with a 300 lb Ute laying on top of him.

One of the best games I ever watched was when BYU with Detmer played SDSU with Faulk in a late-nighter. BYU came-back from a 3-td deficit, SDSU was throwing bombs every third play, after the Boise\OU game it may have been the most exciting I've ever watched that I didn't have a real rooting interest in.

whoa hoa! tackle someone Bama.

i'd to compliment the announcers in at least commenting on one feature of the Superdome that makes it the worst place to see a football game i've ever been to--the lighting. also, what is sort of hard to tell on TV is that the seats on the sidelines part of the field are about 40 yards from the field.

Ah, the good old days...

After being subjected to the epicocity that was/is Big 10/11 powerhouse three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-punts football and the per usualm 70-point beat-downs delivered by the likes of the 'skers or boomers on some hapless Big 8 slappy, you could always count on a late-night 52-49 Boise State-Fresnoe throw down to end a full day of kick-ass football.
