...Doesn't take a whole lot of pondering to realize a guy who at this point in the season has been knocked out of a couple of games, is two weeks out of a concussion where he couldnt feel the pin pricks in his hands, whose shoulder is 50% at best...prolly has been told to stay in the pocket and not run around all that much.

I tell him to play his game and, if he can't, I start his backup. Pretty simple really. Standing in the pocket isn't any safer than running around.

The other key for Ben is getting practice time. The weeks before his two worst games this season, he never practiced. After the Colts game, Tomlin started mandating that Ben practice in order to play that Sunday. Since then Ben has thrown for 7 TDs and only 4 INTs in 7 games. Not bad numbers considering the quality of defenses he faced in those games.
