Well it's official...they're coming back..
Gresham,Bradford and Williams..
i gotta say i like our chances...the OU/Tejas game will be massive next year imo.
i'm really suprised that Gresham is coming back for another year, i work with his aunt and all his mother has been doing is bragging about how much money they're going to have once he turns pro. (not that she wasnt driving a new caddy when Gresham started at OU).

Sam Bradford, Jermaine Gresham and Trent Williams will play for OU next season.
NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, the 2008 Heisman Trophy winner, plans to return to the Sooner program for the 2009 season.
In addition to Sam Bradford's announcement today that he plans to remain at Oklahoma, two other Sooners also announced that they plan to play for the Sooners next year. Both tight end Jermaine Gresham and Trent Williams said they will return for the 2009 season.
Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy announced earlier that he also will return.
"We are pleased that these players are returning to our program," said OU head coach Bob Stoops. "They understand the value of gaining another year of experience and improving their position in the draft along with the value of either finishing their degree or being within a few hours of completing it.
"I also think our players recognize the opportunities we have as a program to pursue more championships and that's something that means a lot to all of us."
Bradford was the national leader in passing efficiency for each of the last two seasons becoming only the third player in NCAA history to do so. For his career, he has completed 565-of-824 for 7,841 yards with 86 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
Last season, Bradford, who will be a junior, was 328-of-483 for 4,720 yards with 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Bradford set the OU record for total offense with in a season last season with 4,676 along with new marks in career touchdown passes, season touchdown passes and passing yards for a season.
Gresham caught 14 touchdown passes last season, the most ever by an Oklahoma tight end. With 26 in his career he is only five behind the career mark by all Sooners set by current Baltimore Raven Mark Clayton.
Williams started the season opener at left tackle then started the remaining 13 games at right tackle. He will be the only full-time starter returning along the OU offensive line.
"I feel like I can improve my draft status by staying one more year," Williams said. "I am also going to moving a lot farther along with my degree and I feel like we can compete for more championships."
Gresham said his experience at Oklahoma and in college football has been meaningful.
"I like my teammates and the coaches here and the atmosphere we practice and compete in," he said. "This is the best decision for me right now and I look forward to what we can accomplish next season. It also means a lot to me to graduate or be close to my degree when I finish my college career."

Re: Well it's official...they're coming back..
Even Gresham too now??
That's fucking awesome. Fantastic, for CF...
2009 is shaping up to be massive.
USC in the The Shoe, in the rematch, early in the season...
The RRS should be ridiculous, with both McCoy and Bradford coming back...
Tebow shooting for unequivocal deity status...
Saban and his killer recruiting classes looking for redemption...
Ditto, LSU...
So much good shit. Hurry the fuck up.

Re: Well it's official...they're coming back..
Taylor Mays said that if Sanchez leaves, SC should run the spread and let him play QB
Re: Well it's official...they're coming back..
If Sanchez stays then Taylor Mays better stay too, for the exact same reason all the OU guys are sticking around one more year.
Sure love to see Kevin Ellison and Taylor Mays together, as pissed off seniors. A whole lotta somebodies would pay a scary price for attempting to roam through USC's secondary.
Then again we all saw what happened when all the Michigan guys stuck around for one last shot at the brass ring, in 2007.

Thanks!
That's incredibly good news. Never would've expected it either.
Sanchez has to come back now. Their offense will be unstoppable if he does, especially with no Sarkisian around to muck it up, and with both Ellison and Mays back the rebuilt defense will have key leadership.
With those guys all coming back USC needs to run the table, setting up the USC-Tebows (SEC) crystal football bullshit game CF has been denied for way too many years now.

Re: Well it's official...they're coming back..
It will be interesting to see how Bradford does behind a less experienced line. He had a ton of time behind a senior laden line. A second or 2 will make a difference since Sam is not the most mobile QB in the land.
Re: Well it's official...they're coming back..
Just heard that Mark Sanchez is bolting for the NFL. Now tOSU should only be a single-digit dog in September. :?

Just heard on the radio the bad news about Sanchez.
Well, Jesus fuck. There goes 2009. USC can still be good but they won't be great, and they won't run the table, which they have to do in order to get the invite.
Well, that's that. The big game of the year will be the RRS. The winner of that game will play Florida for all the marbles. Kinda like it shoulda been this year, come to think of it...

Good for the Trojans that he's coming back...he was a guy many were salivating over as a draft prospect. Having a big time playmaker at safety is becoming one of the most important pieces in a successful defense. I wouldn't have been against the Lions using #1 overall on a guy like Mays.

Get ready for Mitch Mustaine...I can't imagine Barkley would be ready to take over as a freshman.
Sanchez entering the draft this year adds some spice for sure. With Bradford staying in school, it looked like Stafford had #1 QB spot locked down but now Sanchez can lay claim to that. I can't help but think the Lions may consider him for that first pick. I really hoped Sanchez would've stayed in school because next year's class for QBs was going to be more bountiful. From a Lions standpoint, I was hoping they'd hold off taking a QB until next year but that might now happen with Sanchez in the mix.
Re: Well it's official...they're coming back..
Nobody in their right mind will take Sanchez as the overall #1 pick. The guy has one year of major college starting experience, and he spent nearly that entire year injured.
He had a good year, not a great year.
He was healthy though for the Rose Bowl, for the first time in 2008, and he blew up in that game. Maybe that's what this is about.
All I can assume is Sanchez is looking to take advantage of the dearth of NFL QBs in this year's draft, especially now that Bradford, McCoy and Tebow all decided to stick around college for another year.
Kinda stupid. Tebow and McCoy were never going to impact Sanchez's draft ranking anyway. Bradford, maybe, but not Tebow and McCoy. Sanchez was always going to be taken higher than those two.
After exploring his draft possibilities someone must have gotten into Sanchez's people's ears, convincing them he'll be a high first rounder if he comes out now; that he won't enhance his draft status by sticking around another year.
He might've also gotten advice from Matt Leinart, who lost a ton of money by not coming out following his junior year. Injuries or not, Leinart wasn't going to fall to #10, not after his junior Heisman season. There just weren't enough good QBs in that draft.
That's gotta at least be a part of what Sanchez is thinking right now.
Dude had better be taken in the first ten picks and he'd better at least be one of the first two QBs drafted or else leaving early will be a big mistake. I definitely think he still could've improved his draft status by playing a full healthy senior season and just rolling fuckers on the way to a title.

I heard Aaron Corp won the backup job during bowl practice. USC will still have a great team next year, they always reload.Shoalzie wrote:Get ready for Mitch Mustaine...I can't imagine Barkley would be ready to take over as a freshman.

Brain fart admission: Not sure why I thought Kevin Ellison was only a junior. Dude was a senior this season so he's gone.
Josh Pinkard is staying and now that Ellison's spot is his for good he needs to take that spot and really run with it.
Sanchez just better reconsider, if the reports of his leaning towards leaving early are true. His staying would mean another title run and it would also mean Barkley redshirts next year, which would be best both for him and USC.

Props to Bradford for staying. I can't wait for next season. Takes a ton of stones to know you are leaving money on the table. Hell, dude very likely could get much less money next year than had he come out this season.

Unless you're Mike Tyson that much money had better not just come and go!
Who turns down the chance to be king on campus for another year, choosing instead to take the money and run?
Jeez, the list is endless.

Dammit, I figured if Bradford and Gresham bolted OU would be green enough for the 'skers to have a real chance in Lincoln. Congrats to OU-fans, I still gotta give Texas the edge but this definitely makes things more interesting.

Mr T,
If it is really about being a God, then guys would go to the NFL. There is no comparision between the college star and the rookie NFL guy.
Plus, a guy can always go back to college in the offseason and still be "the man" around campus.

Also, anyone who's dumb enough to piss away first round draft pick NFL money isn't going to avoid doing the same just because he stuck around college one more year. That one last year of being The Man on campus isn't going to transform a kid from Mike Tyson to Warren Buffett...
