really average.

the Coen's are pretty overrated IMO, the whole middle brow "quirky film" thing is old. Raising Arizona was great, but I don't know. we've already seen Francis McDermott...

at best, this is a "one off" with a cast wanting to overact....or play the "overacting" thing as a "gag". either way, it's not a very good film.

Essentially, I agree. Worse movies were made in 2008, to be sure...but this was a pedestrian effort by all involved.
