It's looking more like...

Post by ChargerMike »

...LT stays in S.D.

It appears that LaDainian Tomlinson may be staying with the Chargers after all. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune reports Talks regarding a restructured contract are ongoing between LaDainian Tomlinson and the Chargers, and those talks reportedly are in the “final stages.”

It would appear that the continued discussions are good news for those who want LT to stay in San Diego.

Mike, it doesnt matter one bit.

Crydanian will get injured yet again this season, Sproles/Hester will come in and do a good job, and Tardlinson will be gone next offseason. The nail in the coffin will be missing the playoffs.

This season is going to be a disaster for you guys-especially since you let olshansky just walk. AJ has failed miserably at replacing guys like L. Neal, D. Edwards, Merriman (who will now be locked up after seeing how horrid his replacement was) and Florence (who resigned back after Cro was exposed for the fraud he is). Add in that monster contract you gave to your always injured D-lineman (whose backup was terrible last year too) and you've got the makings of a spectacular flameout with serious backlash.

This is norv's year to fall flat on his face and finish 7-9. And shortly thereafter, AJ will be fired.

Good Times.

Igor didn't do enough for us last year. He was a bit soft and clumsy. He'll probably go to another team and become a superstar like so many other Chargers do.

Check.

Let's at least hope 8-8 doesn't win it again.

Shouldn't be a problem. Just another Charger a bit bitter about being let go. He'll probably channel that into something good on the field.

You seem to think anyone not associated with your team is bitter. Whether it's a fan, player, or coach... you spew the same tired rhetoric. Why is this? It's not exactly like your city is known as Titletown, is it?

I think you just answered your own question.

Uh, let's see. Igor was being looked at by Oakland, Green Bay, Dallas and his current team the Chargers. Which one would you want to play for? I'll hang up and listen.

I think whomever is offering the most cayash is where most FA go... I mean, why not?

You think signing with Dallas is a bad thing? They're probably the most popular team in the NFL (:blorf:) They're opening some new crazy stadium this year. There's at least some appeal to playing in Dallas, is there not? I hate them... but whatever.

Maybe he liked playing for Wade Phillips? Wasn't he the D coordinator at San Diego before coming to Dallas?

...meanwhile, back to the topic....LT just inked a new 3 year deal with the Bolts. I for one am happy. I think LT and the flea will make a helluva tandem.

Not necessarily.

You think signing with Dallas is a bad thing?

Not as a good a thing as San Diego.

They're probably the most popular team in the NFL (:blorf:) They're opening some new crazy stadium this year. There's at least some appeal to playing in Dallas, is there not? I hate them... but whatever.

I'm sure he did. But who is his new D coach?
By the way. With LT here for good and our overall team maturing, I'm predicting a SB year this year. You heard it here. It's a strong strong trev hunch. Those usually work out for me.

When you've got a hall of fame player like Tomlinson, fans can naturally have a "romantic" feeling of wanting him to end his career with their team and not go and play out the string elsewhere.

Tomlinson has averaged 332 carries a season over 8 seasons.
Add to that his 63 catches a season.

It's a shitload of pounding this guy has taken.

His "game" is the quick juke and burst.
Watching him last year, he had some juke but the burst was lacking.

A great and feared back becomes a run-of-the-mill back.

But HE continues to convince himself that he is great and feared.

Then some conflict arises over carries or useage.

There's not a really easy solution.
You're sort of damned if he goes elsewhere and you might be damned if he remains a Blot.

But watching how the Patriots have successfully operated, for example, I think they would see that his game has slipped, not go the "romantic" route, and Tomlinson would be playing elsewhere in '09.

Good luck.

...nearly spot on as usual pop's...however, in the game prior to his injury, LT showed real flashes of quickness and flash. It appeared in that game he was finally back and bam, he re-injures a groin that's hampered him since 2004. Expecting a full healthy season at this point in his career is probably asking too much, but I'll still take him.

"Fine" is ok, but Tomlinson will be like the little kitty in Jsc's avatard.

If he's not gettin' his touches you've got a potentially touchy situation.

But not to fear, Norv will handle it all verrah well.
