t.u. falls backasswards into shit all the time. Now it will be a t.u./OU final probably. Won't count out Misery, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Re: Conference tourney discussion
leave it to Baylor to finally play to potential, one time this season. of course, as a NCAA team, last year they lose to Colorado in the first round....the only win a 12 seed has in the history of the conference.
being a BU fan must suck out loud. a lot of lows with an occasional, tempting, and totally unexpected high. plus, you are paying out the wazoo for the 5th best education in Texas....but tell yourself Baylor (and everyone you meet) is just like Stanford, N'Western, Vandy, and Duke.

Well, they are just like them. Private school in a BCS conference so they don't have to disclose their books. Unfortunately, the comparison ends there.King Crimson wrote:but tell yourself Baylor (and everyone you meet) is just like Stanford, N'Western, Vandy, and Duke.

Minny taking care of business, and Michigan is throttling Iowa. If Penn St. can beat lowly IU, the Big Ten is looking good for 8 bids.

Man, I'm not lying... I freaking smelled upset this morning on my way into work. Kansas playing at 11.30 am is freaking funny. Those bitches have never woke up before noon in their life. Listening to sports talk radio on the way home from work was priceless, like somebody just died. Crockadile tears over here, can't you tell?MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Down goes Kansas!!

I was also shocked this morning when I found out Tech beat ATM, after being down big. I had turned the game off and went to bed, assured that Mizzou was going to get a much wanted rematch with those Aggie cocksuckers. The Tigers are going to stomp the dogshit outta' T.T. Mark it down. Fuck these late games on a work nite, it's gonna' be rough in the morning.
Re: Conference tourney discussion
Fortunately I haven't listened to any talk radio. Going into the season it seemed obvious that KU would play a few games really good and then inexplicably play some really bad ones.....the hallmarks of young teams. By and large Kansas had a very successful season that exceeded the predictions/hopes of all but the most fanatical Jayhawk supporters. The UMass, Tech and now Baylor games are all of the "bad" variety. Such is life and such is the fact of following a very young team. KU isn't as bad as they looked against Baylor or Tech and they probably aren't as good as they looked through most of February. At the end of the day they'll probably be a four seed and that's OK, it's right where they belong. I said early on I thought they were a top 15 team and that is what they have proven to be through most of the year. They have the athletes and talent to go a long way in the tournament, they are also young enough to lose early on....probably not first round but who knows.
This KU team has a very disturbing trend of sleeping through 5-8 minutes of every game. They give up massive scoring runs, sometimes they blow big leads...see Mizzou in Columbia, Syracuse, Zona and several others the blown leads don't always result in a loss, but they are troubling none the less.....and sometimes they dig huge holes for themselves. Sometimes they extricate themselves from these holes; see K-State and Texas. Sometimes they don't; see Baylor, Texas Tech and Michigan State. Probably these poor runs are the result of being a young team that is good, not great........ over a number of years that is becoming too large and embarrasing to count I've never seen a Kansas team give up runs to other teams in literally almost every game. Strange, strange.
Oh well,it was a nice three-year run in the Big 12 tourney and now it's somebody else's turn. At the end of March though nobody at Kansas or anywhere else will give a damn what happened in the conference tourney, that's for sure. The success of the 2008-09 Kansas basketball season is going to be determined starting next Thursday or Friday........fair or not, that's how things are these days. For Kansas this year that could be good or it could be very bad. Should be interesting to see.
I look forward to watching the rest of the Big 12 tourney, it really looks like OU's for the taking now though.

Re: Conference tourney discussion
Arizona loses to ASU. Zona in danger of missing the tourney for the first time since Lute's 1st or 2nd year back in the 80's. I think the KU loss hurts them a bit since that was one of their Marquee non-conference wins keeping htem in it. They also beat Gonzaga.

Re: Conference tourney discussion
before the season i was roundly and soundly poo-pooed on OU boards for saying i'd take the Sweet 16, no questions asked. after a couple months of getting greedy about it....i might be back in the same place. OU is limping to the finish line. the "proverbial" last 10 games (which is arbitrary, oft-cited criteria the "Committee" likes to cite when it suits them...ignore it other times)....is not good for the Sooners.
KU and OU pretty much gift-wrapped the Big XII seed in KC to Missouri, if they can take advantage.

Cuse with the lead for the first time since the game was in the 70's. no leads in OT's.

I stayed up to watch those overtimes as well. Unbelievable. The Cuse just looked like they wanted it more. Good call by Boeheim going deep into his bench. He brought in a walk-on who hadn't played all year. Imagine THAT game being your first real set of minutes.

Yeah, Syracuse doesn't seem to be in short supply of wiggers who can nail 3s.
Re: Conference tourney discussion
JB Reafsnyder never had an attitude problem. Gerry Mac didn't, neither.
Re: Conference tourney discussion
They have two white boys who can launch 3's in Rautins and Devendorf. Rautins seems to be a good kid. Devendorf is a punk.

Syracuse is the new Big East flavor of the month, per ESPN. I bet Digger, Hubert Davis, etc., will pick them to go to the Final 4, just like they fawned all over Pitt last year...

Devendorf is a punk no doubt. It's amazing how Syracuse swept his transgression against a female student under the rug early in the season. Rautins is money.Rack Fu wrote:They have two white boys who can launch 3's in Rautins and Devendorf. Rautins seems to be a good kid. Devendorf is a punk.

Re: Conference tourney discussion
The discussion for the #1 seeds got a little more complicated tonight with Louisville winning the Big East and earlier with State losing in the Big Ten semis. North Carolina shouldn't be punished for not having Ty Lawson in the ACC tournament...they should still get a #1 even if Duke wins the conference tournament. I'm not one that thinks the Big East should get three #1 seeds but with Michigan State not winning their tournament, I think that opened the door for Louisville. You have to believe State, Duke (regardless of what they do tomorrow), Memphis and probably a Big XII team (Kansas or Oklahoma) will be the #2 seeds with Carolina and the three Big East teams taking the #1 seeds.

Re: Conference tourney discussion
Re: Devendorf, the incident you mention has been a topic of discussion on the ND homerboards of late. More precisely, that incident has been contrasted with the incident involving McAlarney at ND a few years back. As to McAlarney, I felt at the time that the punishment ND meted out -- suspension for the remainder of the semester, not just from basketball but from school as well -- was too harsh, and said so at the time. Somewhere in between those two extreme examples lies a happy medium as to appropriate punishment when a basketball player breaks the rules. Better for both schools, imho, to reach that happy medium, or at least something a little closer thereto.MuchoBulls wrote:Devendorf is a punk no doubt. As for Rautins, I remember his dad playing with Syracuse circa late 70's -- early 80's. Damn, I'm getting old.

i kind of wondered about that as i was watching games over the weekend. does C-USA always play in Memphis.....jeez, if your conference is begging for respect...spoonfeeding the 4-5 time straight champ (every year since the Big East defections) hardly refutes the conception of a non-competitive league.Sudden Sam wrote:Who the hell decided the SEC tournament should be played in Tampa? Wonder why? Oh, yeah, there ain't an SEC school anywhere near Tampa! What idiots.
