I'm a Beatles honk, but if there is a more impressive run from Beggar's, Exile, Sticky Fingers, and Let it Bleed in 4 years from any band....let me know.

Oh, and good on you for giving Sister Morphine the love it deserves. IMO, the segue of Sister Morphine->Dead Flowers->Moonlight Mile may be the best 15 minutes in the history of rock and roll.

the stones had a pretty good run during the 70s. Trouble is, they didn't have the good sense to OD or die in a plane wreck or something sometime around 1980.

Had they, they may have laid claim to greatest rock and roll band evah. Instead, we have been forced to endure better than a quarter century of utter shit.

Dear god, sure we can't trade them for hendrix, moon, bonham and SRV? Pretty please.

Very eclectic...no huge hits off the album other than Tumbling Dice but just a very good listen from start to finish.

I caught The Who about 10 years ago at The Pond in Anaheim during a tour where they covered the entire Quadrophenia album. My brother called me the afternoon of the show and said "Let's Go". Forever RACK him for making the call. The occasional Dodger or Laker tix that he'd let loose were nice too, though, I gotta admit...

Though my love for the Who is obvious, I also saw that show where they attempted to turn Quadrophenia into a Broadway style musical revue. It was quite possibly the most disappointing concert I have ever attended. I liken it to watching a beloved parent or grandparent, someone you once saw as indestructible, now old, decrepit and unable to climb a flight of stairs without falling down. It was truly awful and confirmed even more in my mind when my wife bought me a DVD that contained another copy of the Quadrophenia performance.

i saw that show once. it was Sonny Rollins in about 1993 at Colorado University's Macky Auditorium....an awesome venue for jazz though usually for classical. Sonny was trying to rap and wearing a pink muscle shirt. there were beats. Coltrane used to rip off Sonny. plus, it was expensive. I had paid (no shit) 10 bucks to see McCoy Tyner at a club in Denver two weeks before. and THAT was incredible.

i agree about Some Girls. I love "When the whip comes down"...that was the B-side to "beast of burden". the groove on shattered is great...possibly the best sad concession disco record along with Bowie's station to station.

get my rocks off. first song on Exile. there was a street musician who used to play this on the Pearl St. Mall in Boulder when i first moved here.

it was great, he was rocking the acoustic....and then when he got to the chorus, mom's would make a bad face and pull kid to the side and walk away. i always loved that guy. "get my rocks off".

hip shake thing is a classic Slim Harpo tune. everyone should own a Slim Harpo record.

The OL dragged me to a Vince Gill Amy Grant xmas show there once. They sukked, but the sound seemed OK. Their opening act, nickle creek was pretty awesome though. Well done live bluegrass is pretty cool. Much cooler than pop country xmas carolers.

Heart of Glass by Blondie is the best "concession to disco" record ever. Followed by Rod Stewart's "Do 'Ya Think I'm Sexy".
