Outdoor Kitchen PET

So I finally decided to make the leap a week ago and buy the big outdoor kitchen at Costco, called the Grand Cafe Grill Island. The thing is a fucking monster. Had to hire a guy with a lift-gate truck to help me pick it up at the store and move it around to the back yard.

Wasn't thinking about a PET when I bought the thing, so I don't have any pictures of the boxes, but put it this way. There were three boxes. Two were about 60" x 30" x 36" and one about half that big. The package weights were 580, 454 and 367 lb. Not exactly a one man job to move them.

Anyway, here's a picture of the pieces just after ripping off all the packing material:

Based on the gross and net weight markings on the boxes there was a total of 223 lb of packing.

There's a faucet that goes in the corner of the sink, and I haven't set that up yet. Most of the work was getting those pieces exactly into place, and then leveling them. The two big pieces both have six legs to adjust and the smaller corner piece has four.

I think around here I'd prolly need some kind of permit or something too.

I don't drive it much anymore, but that old Superduty still comes in handy on occasion.

It wasn't that much work, actually. The grill, refrigerator, range and sink all came pre-assembled. I needed some help getting in in the back yard and getting the two big pieces close to their final resting place. It's set up so that you can use it in a corner configuration or in a straight line. I had to move two of the panels on the corner piece (which also holds the gas cylinder) to configure it as a corner. That was a pain in the ass. Then I had to get that piece into place, adjust the leveling feet and inch the other two pieces into the exact right positions.

The cart came in pieces and it took about a half hour to put it together.

I've been planning on doing something like this for years. We left a space for it when we poured the decking eight years ago, but I never had the time or the $$ to build one. Two reasons I was able to swing this deal with the OL:

1. It was on sale for a decent price.

2. We start a major kitchen remodel (the subject of my next PET) today and need a place to cook. This setup pretty much fit the bill. I Just hope that the grill works as well as my old Weber which now needs a complete overhaul and will probably be "donated".
