The Decemberists? Are you fucking kidding me, Bri? What, you want your own version of MGMT to whack off to?
Back to basics you knuckleheads. This is awesome.

I still love the Beatles. Let me know when they release a new album.

Not that one would ever expect a douche like Whitey to expand his horizons. RACK Lennon for doing the world a favor.

Decemberists = Weezer for the "guy-liner" generation.War Wagon wrote:The Decemberists? Are you fucking kidding me, Bri?
Just let them have this one, Wags. Fighting these fags is worse than hitting a girl.

Of course. How could anyone not?BSmack wrote:I still love the Beatles.
The Beatles were my first love, and the first albums I ever owned. A four album boxed set that I bought thru the mail from some TV offer in 1975 when I was 13 or so. I wore those fuckers out.
Irrelevant.Let me know when they release a new album.
When and if a new band ever approaches the dynamic, ground breaking production of the Beatles, you be sure and let me know.

posted before, but the great Sounds Inc. opening for the Beatles at Shea:

it's great, I get the sense that they're a bit overwhelmed![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Marty, why am I not surprised you chose Revolution?Martyred wrote:Even better...
Great song, but maybe not for the reasons you would like to believe.
You know it's gonna' be, alright...
That's the message you need to hear, not the counter revolutionary bullshit.
Some may dismiss the Beatles early work as love-struck pablum, but that's where they cashed in.

One of the few times where John let Paul have center stage.

No question that Lennon was the pure genius and the driving force, but McCartney had his moments.

For me it was the Red Album aka "1962-1966". I still have my copy. Ground the grooves out of it.War Wagon wrote:Of course. How could anyone not?BSmack wrote:I still love the Beatles.

If you don't listen to new music, how will you ever know?War Wagon wrote:Irrelevant.BSmack wrote:Let me know when they release a new album.

The Decemberists aren't the Beatles. Nobody will ever replicate the Beatles. But they are damn good in their own right. Honestly, I don't get where you're coming from on this. If you're any kind of Syd Barrett fan, you should at least have a grudging appreciation for the music of the Decemberists and the writing of Colin Meloy. Or are you one of those Floyd fans who thinks their career started with Dark Side of the Moon?

Bri, I tried to listen to some of that. I take your recommendations seriously as I know you've demonstrated good taste in the past... but dude, that doesn't cut the mustard.
And I like new music, damn it. I'm always ready to hear Who's Next.

Re: We need a Beatles thread up in this bitch
They're a bit of an acquired taste. Kinda like when you heard "Animals" for the first time and couldn't figure out why the hell Waters and Gilmour were singing about fucking dogs for 17 minutes. But then you took a bong hit or 6 and listened a few more times and you realized this was some of the best shit you've ever heard. I defy you to listen to Picaresque all the way through and tell me you don't hear Syd Barrett in those lyrics.War Wagon wrote:Bri, I tried to listen to some of that.
