Louisville, trouble brewing?

Post by Shine »

Lots of rumblings, some confirmed, coming out of Louisville these days. Pitino apparently was banging the wife (now ex, not sure when it all went down) of one of his staff members. She is being alleged of trying to extort Pitino in order to keep it quiet. This prompted Pitino to take the extortion claims to the FBI. All of this is pretty much confirmed except for the sex part. Clearly something went on between the two though.

The other rumblings are of a potential point shaving scandal having gone down. This one is very much in the rumor stage right now but I've heard it from the same place that was talking about the Pitino-banging-staffs-wife story before that broke nationally. Add to this the fact that Pitino's kid left to take the same gig at UF. Sure there is a connection between Pitino and Donovan and the kid may have wanted to get out from under dad to establish a name on his own merits, but when you look at some of the other stuff going on it could also be a kid getting out while the getting is good.

Something to keep an eye on during the summer months. All of this smoke can't hurt IU in the recruiting battles going on with the Cards.
"Our staff is going to ensure that anyone who attends this University and wears the Indiana uniform will make this privilege among their highest priorities and not treat the opportunity as an entitlement,'' Crean said in a statement. "We fully expect our student-athletes to accept the responsibilities academically, athletically and socially that come with representing one of the top programs in college basketball history."

Marquis Teague.

I'd say get back to me when you have a solid take on college hoops, but then you'd never post here again.

Why WOULDN'T they, now that they've got Crean? It's Indi-fucking-ana. A few down years with turmoil doesn't change that.

Oh, and they've got a better class coming in than Louisville, according to the rankings.

Wake me when recruiting rankings are worth the paper they are printed on. Recruiting wars?

Myopia amongst IU fan will never cease to amaze me. Gotta have something to live for, I guess.

I think the whole 4 star vs 5 star thing gets analyzed to death, but to completely dismiss team recruiting rankings is pretty stupid. Take a yearly look at the incoming rankings (for both football and basketball) and then take a look at where these programs stand in the national landscape and get back to me once you've noticed the trend. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule.

I have no doubt in my mind IU will be an elite team again, or at the very least competing for Big Ten titles. Not next year because they will be so young, but soon.
