When the fuck did the Constitution get amended to allow Congress to declare the President judge, jury and jailer? That is not a declaration of war, it was and is an invitation to tyranny.

So what country did we declare war against? Were these "enemy combatants" members of the armed forces of the country we declared war against? Take your time.

not a country per se, but more like a foreign power which the President has full authority to defend this country against.

VanSmackless,
Shit that's almost as bad as spelling libel... s-l-a-n-d-e-r. At least I got more than 2 letters right. Looks like you Rush Limbaugh'd us again by trying to "speak" above your ability.
As for my use of the word, take it up with Dickens and the Bard if you have a problem with it.

Back to the issue at hand. I know what a warehouse is. The point was that people have been released. If these people (called 'dangerous animals' by your buttbuddy mvskkkal) are so bad why are they released?

TBO, too bad for you, on the slander/libel thing.

See, first off, I already differentiated between the two, a long time ago...and you became involved in the thread. Slander = spoken word, libel = written word. I called someone out on that, about how his accusation of someone slandering him here on this board was completely stupid. You and I had no arguments there. The argument you and I then went on to have had to do with malicious intent, public figures, etc.

Terry chimed in, attempting to offer his tidbits of clarifying minutiae regarding intent/damages/public figures/in the public domain, etc.

There was never any question, though, about written/spoken-libel/slander. I know the dfifference, and you didn't attempt to correct me on that difference.

Secondly, in the example you're attempting to now use, I merely quoted the guy. He used it incorrectly, and I quoted him, not caring to correct him. He didn't care, so neither did I; certainly not enough to bother correcting him.

So, no dice, for you. Return, from whence you came. My ankle isn't going to bite itself, and those English books aren't going to ignore themselves.

Indeed, the bizarre declaration of presidential authority of Sept 18 '01 marks a turning point in the death of democracy in this country as we notice an essential difference in this emergency act compared to previous ones. Unlike WWII, say, the "enemy" is undefined and the "war" is unannounced. That is, the enemy is anyone we accuse--with or without evidence--and the war is PERMANENT. Okay, now....who is controlling congress in this respect? Yep, it's AIPAC.

Doubt it?

And, who wants an ally in the trenches for its permanent war? Yep, our lil' apartheid state Special Friend.

So, we're piling into fucking Afghanistan! An utter disaster, guaranteed to cause further Terrorist plans and action. And..you're arguing as to the legitimacy of locking up "prisoners" without charges or trial? I'd say you better wake up and smell the stench of AIPAC and the vile criminals who are playing you like a puppet.

As to Souter's replacement, it's a simple multiple choice:

a) a woman

b) non-white

c) Hispanic

d) homosexual

e) all of the above

f) a,b, and c

Hey, it's Nick, again going Chicken Little...

Can't even begin to disagree with you, though, on the SC justice replacement process. It's going to be utterly vile. It's going to sicken me, hearing that asshole using barely disguised AA garbage as his reasoning for choosing who he chooses.

Then again, there's little about our recent politics that doesn't thoroughly disgust me, so screw it. I'm resigned to it...

:?

That's not the thread I was referencing, from a long time ago. That's the recent thread where I quoted someone else who misused the term (WW), and I didn't feel like correcting him on it.

I just told you that.

That's not the thread where I corrected someone for misusing the slander term; the thread in which you, Terry and I discussed public domain, malice, intent, etc. In that thread I'd already described the written/spoken difference between libel and slander. I was the one who came in and told someone else that message board insults couldn't be slander, since they're written, not spoken; nevermind that in that instance there was nothing at all that met the definition of slander, even above and beyond the libel/slander difference.

I see so you only use the proper word when you feel like it. That's just great.

1861.

Okay, not so much amended as ignored. But it worked out well for Tommy Wilson and Frank Rooseveldt.
