Iranian election
So, Ackmenijihad got 62% of the vote according to the Iranian government, which equates to 24 million some votes.
Nevermind that he was only projected to get perhaps 2/3rds of that dubious total. Nope, no election fraud going on here. Looks legit from where I'm sitting. Who needs independent election monitors anydamnway?
Perhaps we could send moveon.org and ACORN over there to lobby for some recounts.
Not that it matters. The real power is held by some Islamic cleric.
Why bother with an election in the first place when the supposed leader is just a figurehead?
Oh well, it makes for some nice CNN news footage with Christianne Amanpour in a headscarf while kids set fires and throw rocks in the background like it was Los Angeles circa 1992.

Are you trying to say the election was tainted?
I propose an unbiased commission be sent to Iran to verify the results, perhaps led by Rafa Nadal.

Like every almost every other article on world affairs, the headline and opening paragraph are misleading, they give the impression that there is some sort of imminent uprising - then the closing paragraph counters everything. ho-humTEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- Angry crowds in Moseni Square in Iran's capital Saturday night broke into shops, tore down signs and started fires as they protested the re-election of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, according to CNN employees at the scene.
They were yelling the name of Mir Hossein Moussavi, who the government says lost Friday's presidential election by a wide margin.
Protests broke out in Tehran earlier Saturday after Ahmadinejad was declared the winner of the vote.
The announcement brought thousands of Moussavi supporters onto the streets where they were met a strong police presence and the threat of violence.
CNN's Christiane Amanpour said she saw riot police fighting "running battles" with protesters, who were shouting "death to dictatorship."
[...]
....The loud protests were largely peaceful, despite the large numbers of people on the street. Some stones were thrown, some young people were led away by riot police, and some trash cans were set on fire across the capital.

Or was that Marty? Or both?
To be fair, you're not quite the rabble rousing rock thrower Marty is, so that's a plus in your favor.
At the same time though, how many elections have been held in the DPRNK lately?
I have to give the Iranians a small case rack for at least putting forth the facade of actually having an election. It's good practice for down the road after they've seen their neighbor Iraq actually having one that wasn't a *farce.
American blood bought that.
*Just for Smackie and Van, "tainted" wasn't quite the right word.
Re: Iranian election
Well, more interested in how perceptions are shaped - what information people are getting to form their opinions.
How the mechanics work for people in one country to have a perception that's 180 degrees in the opposite of another, depending on the national interest.
How much money is pumped into de-stabilisation campaigns, when the decision to use military force is back-benched in favour of soft power, disinformation, etc.
What causes a city to go into meltdown when bohemians nail a lite-bright to a lampost?
When reporters submit articles to the wire and have the headlines written for them by an agency to grab your attention, how government agencies get articles onto the wire - and when those articles are simply honest appraisals (correct or otherwise) of the reporter.

And how about a small case rack for a nostalgic puppet like yourself who fancies that America's high offices are any less controlled by loons behind the curtain? Which American blood are you referring to, and how was it spent...? I'm assuming that was good Christian lamb-like blood?War Wagon wrote:Dr_Phibes wrote: Like every almost every other article on world affairs, the headline and opening paragraph are misleading, they give the impression that there is some sort of imminent uprising - then the closing paragraph counters everything. ho-hum

Re: Iranian election
um, there's rioting in the streets of Tehran, the most violent protest since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
And the response consists of Phibes and Nicks unintelligible double speak and obfuscation.
Goddamnit Marty... get in here and hurl some fucking rocks. You can even aim at some dad-blamed Jews, if it suits your purpose, and I won't say a peep in protest... promise.
Here, I'll start by doing my bestest LTS impersonation...
"This is a nefarious fabrication of the Zio-Nazi regime and the abhorent action of AIPAC and their despicably compliant accomplices in criminal injustice against the peace loving peoples of the cradle of civilization against whom reckless genocide is being perpetrated."
Wow, it's tough being Nick.

What "unintelligible doublespeak"? Look, you're handing out "racks" for Iran's pretense of a Democratic election? And...you walk around in a coal mine believing that we enjoy such Democracy ourselves? You're aware that Chimp 'n' Cheney stole two elections? And that senate seats go to the highest bidder? And that virtually every congressman, senator, judge, and governor has to past muster with the AIPAC folks--or suffer an all out attack? Wake the fuck up you redneck idiot!War Wagon wrote:um, there's rioting in the streets of Tehran, the most violent protest since the 1979 Islamic revolution.

Weasel, that's categorical bullshit. Barry and his (nice Irish) boys have already made clear that no matter who wins --it's business as usual. And that means demonizing a nation that has never attacked anyone. And why...?..because PNAC wants a real empire.
Quit your tedious quibbling. You're embarrassing. What are you even saying? Who are you talking to? Do you really think anyone believes a word of your tired retread Cheney blather? Forget it. Move on. The invasion has proven an unimaginable disaster and disgrace. Only a bunkered, walled in apartheid state regime would welcome a climate of rolling chaos--just to divert attention from its own festering contagion. Seriously, check out Avigdor Lieberman, former bouncer/mob thug turned Israeli Foreign Minister (very much in the manner of a certain Austrian radical who wormed his way into a teetering coalition government in 1933), and his actual politics--and then offer some kind of opinion.

Funny that people label Israel an apartheid state...despite the fact that a few million Arabs enjoy freedom and political, social, and religious liberty. Kinda different from those neighbor states, eh? I wonder how this idiot feels about the Saudis, Jordanians, et al that herd Palestinians into labor camps within their own borders...LTS TRN 2 wrote:Weasel, that's categorical bullshit. Wrong, weasel. The soon to be majority Arab-Israeli citizens have so far enjoyed but token Democracy. Their votes DON'T COUNT--if you knew or were willing to admit anything about the actual structure of the Israeli government. Just like in South Africa, the same nominal "democracy" produced in the shell shocked 1948 birth of the United Nations (you know, that beloved international body that gives the state of "Israel" it's only legal standing?), the natives are given token representation in the government--while these same fascist/colonialists assume full and harsh military control--exactly like the Nazis.JMak wrote:Funny that people label Israel an apartheid state...despite the fact that a few million Arabs enjoy freedom and political, social, and religious liberty. As for the neighboring Arab states refusing to simply assimilate the millions of Palestinian refugees, this a plain and obvious matter of honor and principle, a subject with which the ZioNazis obviously want no part.

ANybody been watching the video of the rock throwers?
I'd say these fukkers throw like girls, but, they'd have to improve just to get to girl thrower status.
If we want to see revolution in some of these 3rd world shitholes where futebol is the primary sport, I say we introduce little league to these fukks. This way in another 20 years or so Ismail might at least have a little velocity and more importantly location, on his rock when he decides to attempt another revolution.

Looks like the shit is going to hit the fan there real soon.
Where are Nick and the other lib tards decrying the voice of the people not being heard? So, it's ok for some peaceful demonstrators to be gunned down in Iran, because the power structure in Iran hates America. That suits their agenda. Election? We don't need no stinking election to hate America
Well, that's about to change. This is a seminal moment and with or w/o Obama impersonating Reagan in front of the Brandenburg gate, history will shift nonetheless.
Good thing we've got some troops nearbye to protect those oil assets from falling into the wrong hands. Just coincidence, I guess.

it's a dog and pony show. One of the funnier stories from the AP I've read is about chaos, violence, mayhem in the streets!!*
