WW, come back and talk after you've actually read the thread. I already addressed both punting and place kicking.
In a nutshell, go ahead and manage that punt play and that place kick, sans any use of hands.
See, hands snap the ball. Hands catch the ball. Hands direct the ball into place, so that the place kicker or punter may kick the ball. The only part of the process which doesn't involve the use of hands on the ball is the actual kick itself, and even there the punter or kicker are allowed to hold the ball and either run with it or throw it.
Using...their hands. Remove the ability to use their hands and you don't have punting, place kicking or football, at all.
So, your point again?
Fail.
Thanks for playing, though. You're dismissed.

Van, you kill me.Van wrote:They do however need to cross midfield. If the ball is in the vicinity of the goalmouth then re-setting the attack by kicking the ball all the way to midfield or beyond isn't going to do squat.
Those defenders at least need to move up a bit, to become truly involved in the action. What they do when they're back at the midfield stripe or beyond is of no consequence, not when the ball and the action is in and around the goalmouth.

Left back send ball over the top to an attacker who heads it to a second attacker for a volley into the net.
That left back had nothing to do with the goal?

Re: Played softball against a few Huskers this wknd.
You've got to be fucking kidding me. That play BEGAN with a long kick, followed by a header. We've been talking about a scrum in front of the goal mouth. If a scrum in front of the goal mouth leads to someone kicking the ball all the way back out to midfield or beyond (which is what I keep saying) that's a completely different type of play.
How fucking difficult is this to understand?? Simply showing me a random play of a long-ish kick followed by a header has nothing to do with what we've talking about, which is the ball being in the goal mouth, with a large grouping of players fighting over it. In your play there the players were spread out, because the play originated from somewhere near midfield.
Why not just show me a clip of a Franco Harris blast up the middle, to demonstrate the brilliance of Jack Lambert.
Forget about it. We're not getting anywhere here. We can't even manage to talk about the same thing, so this is going nowhere.
So, fine, soccer is brilliant and flawless. It wouldn't benefit one bit from all the players being able to use their arms and hands. Those guys in the restaurant had every reason in the world to get excited about shots which never stood a chance of impacting the game.
Now we're done here. Bring on football. I wanna see a Song Girl.

Re: Played softball against a few Huskers this wknd.
hahahaha, what a dumb vagina. what are you talking about, a scrum? when do you ever see a scrum in soccer? you act like socal's the dipshit because he found a video of players spread out in normal formation and you're all, NO!, WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT MY MAKE BELIEVE PRINCESS DOLLS! the only times you'll find that many players in the box is during a corner or free kick, and even then you rarely get anything past two or three volleys before players run back to their positions. you act like a competitive soccer match is the same gay exploring you did back during third-grade recess.
and no, soccer wouldn't benefit at all from the players being able to use their hands. it'd be rugby without the tackling.
nice eject, by the by. oh, you guys are stho sthupid! you justh don't get it! whatever, dood, you got dominated. make sure your door's unlocked because i'm coming over to pee on your head.
homo.

Van,
A bit touchy are we? That Lakers celebration must have affected you deeply all the way from the LA Coliseum.
Rather than bail let's try and get closer to your scenario, shall we?
Take a look at the second goal in this video. Defender saved it off of the line in a "scrum" as you say, made a run, made a pass from the left that switched point of attack to the right, header back to the middle of the box, goal.
Sorry, no Song Girl in that one.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say, with the score 1-0, the game is over. Just a hunch! I never miss when I make a prediction on soccer. My locks are fucking stone cold, beeyotch!M Club wrote:last 20+ minutes of usa v. spain. the us clinging to 1-0 lead. spain hasn't lost a match since 2006.

eh, spain was putting solid pressure on for 45 minutes till the us scored a second goal during one of those counterattacks by players van would say weren't part of the action.

I hate when the US wins in soccer. It pisses me off more than it does Iowa winning national titles in wrestling. Much like I don't want Iowa to be seen as a wrestling school, I don't want this great country to become a soccer nation.M Club wrote:eh, spain was putting solid pressure on for 45 minutes till the us scored a second goal during one of those counterattacks by players van would say weren't part of the action.
LET'S GO SPAIN!! PAO GASOL ALL THE WAY!!!

the us won, probably the biggest win of our lifetimes.
i'm pretty sure the us is in no danger of becoming a soccer nation. even here in portland, which is relatively soccer crazy, most people i know think it's absolutely retarded that we're getting an mls team.
