....Owl throwing out the ultimatum
Pro Football Weekly reports sources say Al Davis is willing to cut maligned Raiders S Michael Huff if he doesn’t show improvement in the near future. Huff, the team’s 2006 first-round pick (seventh overall), has been working at strong safety during OTAs and minicamps, and we hear he’s likely to be released if he doesn’t earn a starting spot. The 26-year-old has been a major disappointment and was demoted from the starting lineup to the bench midway through last season. He has yet to show signs of figuring things out this offseason.

Re: Duhs ready to whack 1st. rounder Huff
Huff hasn't come close to living up to his status as a #7 overall pick, but as "iffy" and lacking in depth as I think the 'dud secondary is, I'd be a little surpised if he was ... cut.
He's a bit of a tweener.
Not as sturdy and strong on contact as you'd like a safety to be, and not as fluid and nimble as a good corner needs to be.
He HAS had some success when man'd up v. some pretty good TE's, however.
I s'pose he could be cut, but I'm not really expecting it.

Absolutely, mv. Nailed it with that first sentence.mvscal wrote:Another outstanding athlete who is a lazy dickbag unwilling to put in the work to succeed at the professional level. That sort of player seems to be the Duh's specialty of late
The duh's specialty? How the fuck are they (much less MOST teams) suppossed to know that some of these pussies will straight out pack it in once they hit the payday? Every damn team in the L has experienced this type of player numerous times. The players 'self discipline' and how much time he puts into his craft and the gym ON THIER OWN TIME should be looked at extensively before drafting a player. It truly surprises me that this type of criteria isnt under a microscope more often with the millions of dollars being thrown at players.
A good example of this is Crabtree-SI did an srticle on this cat and he did nothing but sit around and "eat donuts" and inhale bullshit during his recovery. Most recently, Singletary brought him to tears (no, im not kidding) for trying to fuck around on his bum leg before he was scheduled to take the field. Dumbass.
This is Huffs last chance. He'll be gone mid season if he doesnt get his act together. He is eerily reminding me of Philip Buchanon-without the sensation rookie year.

Just for what it's worth, this was a very recent exchange Nnamdi Asomugha had with a fan in an on-line "fan interview" session --
Fan: Who do think will have a breakout year for the Raiders this year?
Nnamdi Asomugha: On offense, I would say one of our RBs -- one of the trio we have -- will have a breakout year. I think we're going to have a strong year running the ball, and the guy who gets the majority of carries could have a big year. On defense, so far in camps this offseason Michael Huff has really been having a great offseason thus far. I know it's a critical year for him, and I can see him making a jump.
We'll see.
