I was Tiger's guest at the AT&T National today. Not that I was the only one. He sprang for all military and DoD civilians, so RACK him. I'd never been to a golf tourney before, and Congressional is less than a half hour away, so what the hell. Beautiful wx, tough course conditions - what better way to spend Independence Day?
I was planning to use this as an opportunity to enter the PET-off, but no cameras were allowed. Prolly shoulda guessed as much, but being a rookie at this sorta thing, I didn't realize until last night that they're forbidden. Got there a little before noon, staked out a choice spot under a tree about 20' from the first tee, and watched the players with later tee times begin the third round. Then I pretty much just followed Tiger around the course.
There was a military hospitality tent along the ninth fairway, with free snacks and drinks for those with military tickets. Sat in air conditioned comfort for about 30-40 minutes gettin' my grub on while watching the action on a big screen, then rejoined the gallery along the 14th fairway. David Feherty was standing right in front of me there for a few minutes. I like his commentary, but he seemed like he could be a dick judging by the way he was talking to his crew. Speaking of crew, saw quite a few douchebags there with popped collars on the polos.
All in all, a quite enjoyable 4th. Hope yours is, too.

Smackie,
If you want to do a golf tournament PET, get yourself to a practice round next year. Then you can get pictures like these that I snagged at the 2003 PGA Championship.
K.J. Choi signing autographs

Tiger getting his pose down after stiffing an iron to within 10 feet of the hole.

Steve Williams and some flunky.

Tiger busting a drive with his old small head Titleist.

Tiger practicing his putting.
