If he's guilty I hope he rots in hell.
That being said, the fact that a civil suit was filed before a criminal complaint should be telling.

That's not necessarily true. The victim may not want to go through the hassle of the criminal trial. Who knows what happens. All I know is this story is about to explode. Why hasn't ESPN jumped all over this yet? Is it because Ben is white???BSmack wrote:If he's guilty I hope he rots in hell.

My guess is that ESPN hasn't jumped on the story for the same reason the NFL network hasn't. They're both dependent on the good graces of Rodger Goodell .TheJON wrote:That's not necessarily true. The reason I am suspending judgment is that this has all the makings of a big time money play. There's no criminal complaint, no rape kit test and a year has passed since the alleged incident. Those factors alone make this almost laughable were the charges not so severe.

It definitely is suspicious, but I do wonder if Ben was a black QB would ESPN be all over this by now?

Turns out the Andrea McNulty is a full blown Section 8 case who was institutionalized after the wife of a dude she was boinking paid her back by creating an imaginary email account posing as a soldier in Iraq and engaged email correspondence that reached the point of McNulty believing she and her imaginary lover were engaged. When the imaginary G.I. Joe stopped emailing her, she checked herself into a Reno hospital with "major depression and anxiety".
This won't go well for her.

Unless she has video of him raping her while she's passed out on roofies or something as damning as that, ain't nuthin' gonna come of this.

By the way, if he settles out of court on the civil case, he's guilty as fuck.

Not neccessarily...
A court battle would probably be a long drawn out affair. Big Ben makes an awful lot of salary. It's in his better interest to pony up $0.5 - 1.0 mil and move on, rather than losing wages.
Look at Kobe -- no way in hell any jury was going to find him guilty in either criminal or civil court, but all sorts of nasty things would have been said about him, and it would have cost him WAY more than the $0.5 mil he paid to shut her up.
Isn't it odd how these very suspicious, questionable cases against athletes always seem to come to light right before the athlete has to show up to training camp? I'm sure it's just a coincidence, rather than a ploy by sleazebag lawyers (which I realize is grammatically incorrect, as "sleazebag lawyer" is redundant).

Buck teeth and her nose and mouth are both too large. She's bangable in a Dinsdale-at-last-call kinda way, but that's about it.

Re: Ben Rapistberger????
This is getting even weirder. According to the complaint served on Roethlisberger, McNulty is claiming that she "did not report the alleged assault to authorities because she thought her supervisors and hotel security would take care of the matter." Furthermore, she blames her supervisors for not maintaining the integrity of the scene or evidenced contained therein?

Maybe 40-60 on a civil. That story is simply not that believable to an ex-cop. Pull out? No phone call to cops? Never a criminal complaint? No evidence? Huh?

My first impression is that this is a BS shakedown. Still, the lawsuit is a public record and ESPN should at least throw up a link to a bare bones story on the matter.

A normal person with half a brain knows to go to the authorities and let them handle it but it doesn't appear that we're dealing with a fucking Mensa here. I'm in no way calling Ben guilty. I have no idea what happened, but that story she is telling actually does make some sense coming from a dumbass.
Think about it.........
You've got a high profile and very wealthy guest staying at your hotel-casino. He calls down to the front desk saying there's something wrong with his TV. First thing her boss probably says before she goes up there......."whatever you do, take care of him, make a good impression and don't fuck up". So she goes up there, fixes his TV and then he rapes her. If she tells, she's probably afraid of losing her job. So instead of telling authorities, she first tells her supervisor who tells her to please not make this a public scene and they would handle it. She, not knowing any better, is fine with that. So at the advice of her boss, she keeps her mouth shut. I could definitely see a casino doing something like this. It's not like casinos are exactly run by the classiest people in the world. They were probably more worried about negative publicity ruining their business than this girl's best interests. So after they heard about this, they probably went up to the room and cleaned up the evidence- if there was any.
This wouldn't be the first time a rape victim has failed to contact authorities. It's actually very common. Often times it's pressure from someone to keep their mouth shut and other times they're afraid to. I actually know someone that was raped about 4 years ago and never said a word to anyone but me and maybe 1 or 2 other people- not even her parents know. Some people cannot mentally handle going through the legal process in a rape case and it is very possible that someone like her is one of those types of people.
Again, I'm not calling Big Ben guilty. But I don't think that just because this story seems crazy means it's not true.

Re: Ben Rapistberger????
In her own complaint she admits that there is no physical evidence. Which means her entire case needs to be supported by the veracity of her testimony and that of any witnesses she might call. Which means the fact that she appears to be batshit crazy undermines her credibility big time.TheJON wrote:Again, I'm not calling Big Ben guilty. How troubling that ESPN has yet to post a single story regarding this on their website even though the NFL's own website is reporting the civil suit and Goodell has said the NFL will investigate.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with Ben's involvment in Shaq's new tv show set to debut soon.

ESPN could post that the Steelers were being sold to Art Modell and I would hear about it second hand. I don't read ESPN for sports news anymore than I read Fox's web page for political insight. Considering you and I are in the minority in terms of where we get our sports news, it should be troubling to you. Regardless of their presentation style, ESPN is THE major sports outlet for most people and when a major media outlet is ignoring a significant story because of conflict of interest , maybe it's time their press credentials are pulled..BSmack wrote:ESPN could post that the Steelers were being sold to Art Modell and I would hear about it second hand. I used to visit ESPN for sports news. But then they started holding back all of their good stories for their "insiders". Meanwhile a whole bunch of competitors started cleaning ESPN's clock when it came to scoops and feature reporting. Suffice it to say, I have no great love for ESPN. But they aren't getting their credentials pulled as long as they are owned by Disney and paying the NFL 1 billion a year. So it's a pointless conversation.
