The Boat that Rocked

Post by King Crimson »

an impressive assembly of Brit-com actors and Philip Seymour-Hoffman combine with an interesting premise to make a mostly lame film.

Bill Nighy, Nick Frost (Spaced, Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead), Kenneth Branagh, Rhys Ifans, Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), Chris O'Dowd (IT Crowd), Katherine Parkinson (IT Crowd).

i see this movie has been released re-titled "Pirate Radio". still the same: a lot of talent on screen, interesting premise.....bad movie.

Pros: Insanely great soundtrack, Fairport, New York's own Phillip Seymour Hoffman reprises his Lester Bangs character from "Almost Famous", Talulah Riley is damn easy on the eyes.

Cons: They take an otherwise great story (The death of UK pirate radio) and turn it into a turgid and disjointed mess.

Verdict: It's a bit of a clunker. But I did at least enjoy the soundtrack.
