Not sure what forum this belongs in because it's not a book or film, but also not strictly music. So I'm dumping it here.
Went to see the road version of Spamalot in San Diego on Saturday afternoon. The show is based, loosely, on Monty Python and the Holy Grail, with a lot of additional musical numbers. The plot has been mixed up a little bit, but that doesn't matter because the plot doesn't really matter.
Most of the jokes are just rehashed from the movie and so aren't really fresh. A lot of them are still funny, though. The fact that they were able to hack off both of the Black Knight's arms and legs and still have a guy in the costume was especially impressive. It was fun to see it on stage and the performances, especially the musical numbers, were great. The addition of the Lady of the Lake as a main character through the show allowed them to highlight a very talented performer.
Verdict: very silly but thoroughly enjoyable.
