Hypothetical question...

Post by Van »

-Pete goes with Corp today, which seems certain after Barkley didn't practice all week following the shoulder injury he suffered against Ohio St.

-Corp looks fantastic, putting up big yards while making use of the entire playbook. USC's O looks balanced, solid and aggressive in a big win.

On the one hand, many people feel that Corp only lost his starting gig due to his tibia injury; that he originally won the job, fair and square. On the other hand, Barkley is obviously the future. Also, many people feel that Pete wanted Barkley to win the starting position all along.

If Corp looks great today does USC have a QB controversy on their hands?

when you are winning, you don't have controversy.

if Bark is back and he started the OSU game. he's #1.

IMO. if i were a coach.

You stick with Barkley, your original starter. You don't strip the starting job away from your qb of the future because Corp scores a bunch of points against Washington.

Still, is Barkley really the original starter? Had Corp not gotten hurt a few weeks before the opener he was going to be the starter. At least, he was the starter to that point.

I thought Corp was ready to go heading into the OSU game, but they named Barkley the starter still. Could be wrong though.

edit: By OSU, I meant SJSU.

No, you're correct there. Heading into the OSU game Corp was again ready to go. The thing is, he would've started the SJ St game had he not gotten hurt, or so it seemed, and had he started and won that game he also would've started the OSU game.
