Belated comments...

Post by Van »

...since I was away from my 'puter all day.

I did see a few late games though while at Hooters, as well as a dead-on clone of Tera Patrick, only with perfect real tits.

But I digress.

-All credit to the Hawkeyes, and to Jon. Iowa sacked up and showed the type of toughness a certain team hailing from a canyon of fruits has never shown.

Jon was right about Iowa and Penn St. Jon was right about Michigan St being overrated, and not yet ready to win games.

Jon was right on both counts, and I was wrong on both counts. Excellent showing by that Hawk's D, especially after that first play from scrimmage for PSU.

Ain't nuthin' left to say but Jon was right, and I was wrong.

Great win by Iowa. Their win tonight and the USC win over Ohio St are the two biggest road wins of the season so far, and IIRC Jon called 'em both. Of course he was always going to call the Iowa game - what else would he do? - but he also backed it up with solid reasons and unwavering confidence, so he gets all the credit.

He can gloat as much as he wants right now, and there isn't fuckall anybody can say to him.

On top of that he received 42-3 to begin his day?

9-26-09 shall forever go down in The Life Of Jon right alongside the first time he ever made a girl cum with his own dick, or the birth of his first child, whenever that hell shall finally be visited upon planet earth.

"Todayyyyyy...I consider myself the luckiest mannnnn...on the face of the earthhhhhh...."

All hail Jon. Dude had himself a badass day today.

-Daryll Clark is horrible. I mean, goddamn he's horrible. He's Juice Williams horrible.

-I think it's about time PSU bails on the Cupcake Diet. That team needs to toughen themselves up a little for the real world, and the non-stop home games against the Coastal Carolinas and Akrons of the world just ain't gettin' it done.

-Fuck the SEC. All three of my SEC picks in Pick 'Em dicked me, and they did it coming and going. My two favorites - LSU and Tennessee - both scabdicked home without covering. My home dog getting a buttload of points - Katytucky - would've needed an entire second buttload of points to have a chance of covering.

Thanks a bunch, fuck knuckles.

-Horrible performance but a great save by ND. You guys can breathe now, Lax, Terry and Killian. Your season goes on. That last sequence, where it took the fourth and final try to get it in, that couldn't have felt too special. That sequence was like Jon's first fuck, with a whole lotta clueless fumbling around before it finally just sorta fell in.

-Stellar effort there, 'Noles. Way to go ahead and donkey punch your fans following all that breathless foreplay from the BYU game.

-Can everybody please just STFU up now about "The U being back!" They should've also lost to FSU.

-What a goddamn heartbreaker for ASU, whose placekicker was injured and absent from a game in which the placekicker turned out to be so important.

-Speaking of kicking, USC's entire kicking game is just horrible. Their kicker hit the crossbar from only 44 yards against Ohio St, and tonight he came up short from 41. That's something we simply don't see very often, a kicker for a major program who can't even reach from 40 yards out.

Then there were all the usual holding penalties on kickoff and punt returns...and they even added an offsides.

The 13 penalties, and all those 1st and 20s to begin so many drives again, those were really clever too.

USC's offense is just a fucking mess. Barkley looked great, but WSU was so completely overmatched that who cares how he looked? WSU needs to leave the Pac 10 in football, to be replaced by BYU, Utah and Boise St.

Of course USC picked this week to finally air it out offensively. Whatever.

Their D looked great again, with the 74 sacks and the 'real world' shutout. The only points they gave up came on the final play of the game, when nobody was even playing anymore, but they still aren't forcing turnovers. They lucked into the couple they got tonight.

The offense just didn't give a crap. They built the early lead, put the game away, then officially went to sleep. They were incredibly sloppy...again.

Awful.

-Thank god there's always Cal to brighten our days. Swear to god, I don't think there's a more contemptible team in all of CF than Cal. Cal are without a doubt the most sackless bunch of muscle-memory pussies in all of CF. Has that team ever seen a big game from which it didn't shrink? Has any team ever been as terrified of the road? I mean, fuck, SEC teams point at Cal and laugh for being such road pussies.

Best/worst of all though is the way Cal just lays down and takes it. When Cal queefs they queef like Cytheria after six Super Tanker Big Gulps. They're never content to just gut out a gritty loss. No, Cal always seems to have to go full-on Crispin Glover whenever they decide to lose.

16 carries for 55 yards; 3.4 YPC, and no TDs, you fucking homoberry. What would a big Cal game be without a vanishing act from their always overhyped skill position stars?? DeSean Best much?

Heisman talk kaput much?

psssst...

Those urine unis are that color for a reason: They're designed to hide Cal's predictable bodily reaction when stadium security personnel bar Cal's players from turning around and running right back into that tunnel before the start of any big road game.

Damn Van, nice way to close that post. Hell, nice post top to bottom.

I didn't get to see the first half of the SC game. Here in Utahrd we were stuck watching (if one wanted to) the fighting for a wildcard spot Colorado
Rockies play INCLUDING a half hour post game show featuring a lot of Jim Tracy. BRUTAL.

So I saw the 2nd half. Meh.

I'm not sure what to make of this team. The defense has been pretty solid. The offense? Scratching my head there. You summed it up rather succinctly with
'fucking mess" and followed that up with "incredibly sloppy."

I never did see that Washington debacle. So now SC gets to go on the road for 4 of their next 5 games. It will be very interesting to see how many of those they
lose.

Edit to add: Curtis McNeal looked very quick to the hole in garbage time. He was impressive, at least to my eyes.
FIGHT ON!

If PSU turns out to be a rag team, how can you claim Iowa's win would be the biggest road win of the season? 4 weeks in NOBODY knows who the gimps are yet.....From having just been to Hooters, you seemed too preoccupied with joncock...No way would I want to lose WSU; the Pac IS the toughest conference in the nation this year, so you want to lose the only cupcake? The conference already bucks the tide and schedules real OOC tests, so every week a struggle?
Especially with the Michigans, Penn Sts, etc that are ranked before the season starts every year? If you want to be a hero, you have to wait until a playoff is instituted....or when the eloy take over - whichever comes first....

Way to sack up Van! I would disagree on Darryl Clark though. This has more to do with his inexperienced receivers and their O-line. Can't expect much out of the guy when his line cannot block our D-line and his receivers aren't getting open. He is better than he showed. His victory guarantee on YouTube is now going to make him a legend in the state of Iowa now too!!

Mgo, it's becoming about that time for someone to cook up another Hitler video, this time for Mark Dantonio.

We had Congdon at Neb, surprised me that he got the starting nod at USC. He just doesn't have a strong leg. I hope he can keep the job, he's the sub on my fantasy-squad and my kicker from Florida already lost his job.

Mich State should just keep Cousins in there. They REALLY need to pull out a W.

Congrats to JON on his rightness and Iowa's big win.

Though I agree, the qb situation is the least of their problems. Although it's really strange when they sub in Nichol - it's almost always directly after a long scoring drive engineered by Cousins. Once the guy gets locked in a rhythm he can slice up a defense, but they don't allow him to do so. Baffling, really. They're still rotating guys in and out all over the place too, and can't establish any continuity.

It's the defense that's a nightmare. The players are good and experienced, but aren't being utilized properly. The DC's schemes and preparation are not getting it done, and he shows little ability (or willingness) to make adjustments. His blitzes are predictable and they give receivers so much cushion that people just nickle and dime their way up the field on them with ease. I'm not sure he's got a single man-to-man formation in his entire playbook. Dantonio needs to take over full reigns of the defense, and needs to do it immediately to have any chance at all of salvaging a respectable season.

Just another weakass SEC victim, I guess. :)
Yes, they were, especially with Bama again playing at home. Arky was more than a two TD dog, and they have no D, so yes, they were another weakass SEC victim.

You didn't scabdick it though, so for that you do receive credit.

Who cares? We'll still be playing football in January and can ignore basketball until February......and then it's time for spring training. We can virtually miss the entire hoops season.
Unlike the rest of Hawkeye nation, I still love Hawkeye hoops- and always will. But it is going to be a brutal season. Undersized, no athleticism, and no depth. Uh oh!!

USF's effort was much better and we dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

I've got to hand it to Texas Tech's defense. They played inspired football saturday night in front of a record crowd at Robertson Stadium. What I really liked about the game was that the Coogs did not bring their "A" game and they still beat a legit BTPFCS despite the miscues.

Two dropped would be interceptions, mismanagement of the clock before the first half ended, two missed FGs, a bunch of miss tackles, and Keenum trying to force a ball down field in tight coverage that could've cost UH the game. And they still managed to win.

That tells me UH is better than what the final score showed last night. They can play below their potential and manage to beat "superior" opponents. Keenum is a stud. If UH doesn't get the BCS buster bid this season, then next season they will have a better chance IMO.

They live to fight another week and that is all Coog fan can ask for right now.

Great fucking weekend.

Quite the opposite. I thought that was very special. You had a kid in Clausen who showed huge balls coming off the bench and playing hurt to lead his team down the field and throw the winning touchdown on fourth down with under a minute left. The throw he made on 3rd and 14 was nails and the kid proved once again why he should be brought up as one of the best QB's in the country and in the Heisman discussion. With all of the injuries ND had in that game, I thought it was a great game plan by Weis and the defense finally stepped up for most of the game. They most certainly would have lost that game and the MSU game, last year. They are learning how to win and it's fun to watch. If Clausen and Tate stick around for next season, that offense is going to be un-fucking-believable.

Van, I'd still take Clark over quite a lot of the kids out there right now.

I have been vocal in congratulating Jay Paterno for bringing this kid along. I still am. The first pass play was a thing of beauty. He had some great games last year - better than many many of his PSU predecessors were capable of.

PSU's OL got completely undressed in this game. They are, at this point, orders of magnitude lesser than the OL we had last year.

Clark made a lot of mistakes Saturday, but many of them came after embarrassing failures up front. When your big uglies roll over like marshmallows with bristles, you're going to begin having some issues.

I'm seeing a couple of nice positives from the game, and of course a host of negatives. Sukay looks like a player at SS. and Derek Moye appears to be a legit WR. Jeremy Boone is no Ryan Donahue, but he's very good in his own right.
