The Associated Press reports the Philadelphia Eagles released quarterback Jeff Gartheea to order to make room for Jeremiah Trotter. Garcia was signed as an emergency backup after Donovan McNabb cracked a rib in the season opener.

Hell, that's ALMOST an insult to Ryan Leaf....maybe it isn't too late for the Faiders to convert JaMonkey to a tight end.mvscal wrote:Naw, they're good. JaRyanleaf is about to turn the corner any game now.

And, uh, may be calling you. If you can, please take your name off that and, um, and what do you call it just have it as a number on the voice mail, just have it as your telephone number. That's it, OK. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye."

I said in this thread, in May, that I believed Garcia would start at least 6 games for Oakland this year because I didn't believe Russell was there yet.

Hey, Garcia didn't show squat in pre-season, and the Raiders opted for Gradkowski and Frye as backups.
Could he come back to Oakland and play?
I guess it's possible, but I'm not betting on it happening.
If Russell stinks it up again this week v. the Tejans, Cable MUST sit him down.
JaMarcus improved toward the end of last season and looked like a viable NFL starter.
But now, for whatever reason, he's regressed.
You can't have the entire offense handicapped by ONE guy who's play sucks royal cakk.

Not good, for sure.
Cable was asked on Monday about Russell's work ethic and dedication.
He said this, (paraphrasing) "In that regard, he's light years ahead of where he was when he first joined the Raiders."
Hmmmm ...
NFL QB is a year-round gig these days.
The days where you could dick around for 5 months and then roll into camp and shed 30 lbs of fat are long gone.
Also, nothing about Russell screams -- SMART.
Nearly all the good ones are smart.
