This game on the BTN is a travesty, but I believe the BTN gets first dibs on their game of choice 2 or 3 times a season. They took this one.King Crimson wrote:ouch. too bad i don't have the Big Ten Network for Sparty-UM.

Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
yeah, UM-Sparty isn't even on ESPN360 (which i get for free since CU is my ISP....and totally rocks for college hoops). with my router/home network i can watch 3 or 4 games at once with TV, laptop, desktop. i've got Bama-KY in a 360 window with the mute.
if i were a network exec and i've got OU-Miami in the eastern time zone and USC-CAL in the west....how this isn't a double-header is beyond me.

both Wiscy and the Gophers taking turns pissing down their leg with penalties/turnovers.

I didn't really think the refs were terrible except for the late hit called against MSU late in the 4th quarter. The play was still alive and they hadn't blown the whistle yet.PSUFAN wrote:Mgo - how 'bout those referines?

Yep, that was the play that prompted the post...

Yeah, that hit by Jenrette was bogus...as you said, the whistle hadn't even blown until after he plowed into the ball-carrier. Sparty still took way too many dumb penalties today.

Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
Shitty game by Iowa, but it's exactly what I expected. Got off to a fast start and then just held on from there. Arkansas State showed up to play football, and outplayed Iowa for 3 quarters. Fortunately, they just weren't good enough to overcome a 2 touchdown deficit.
Secondary, linebackers, and offensive line get an "F" for their performance today. Nice effort, guys.
I shouldn't be mad because this is what I had predicted, but still............fucking hustle. I know it's Arkansas State, but geez.........you only play 12 games a year. Is it asking too much of this program to show up once in a while for teams like this??
Stanzi played a great game except his 2 stupid mistakes that kept them in the game. Every game, he has a pair of boneheaded errors that keep the other team in the game.
I guess a win is a win and we're sitting at 5-0 with a HUGE game against Michigan up next. Win this one and we're in position to really make a big run.

Gophers are now my adopted favorite Big11 team. Brewster is one of my favorite asst coaches Mack had in his sytem, and I have lots of old UM friends back in MN.King Crimson wrote:ouch. too bad i don't have the Big Ten Network for Sparty-UM.

Also you gotta love their new stadium, absolutely beautiful.

Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
Minnesota is a joke. The stadium does look nice, but it's small and they still can't fill it. Not even when their unbeaten rival is in town. Brewster is a shit coach and he will never compete for anything in the Big-10. I hope he's there for a long time because he will never beat Ferentz.Vito Corleone wrote:Gophers are now my adopted favorite Big11 team. Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
I like Minny's new little stadium - except for the fact that they still can't even fill it - but I don't like that one open end of the stadium, behind the one end zone. Having only about five rows of seating there, with people walking right behind them on that little concourse, it looks like a high school field.

Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
We got up 14-0 in the first quarter then quit playing. It was exactly what I had expected. Yeah, I'm sure we really took Ark. St serious sanwiched in between Penn State and Michigan.Careful there, Radar. Ferentz (aka GOD) just beat Arky State by 3. Watch where you go with this shit.
Like I said, Brewster will NEVER in his miserable career beat Kirk Ferentz. Iowa owns Minnesota as much as we own Penn State.

Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
Must be a bunch of Hawkeye homers in the media!EDIT: And yet I see the Hawks actually moved up in the polls today. unbelievable.
I definitely agree with this, but those were only 2 of the opponents. You could argue that based entirely on resume, we should be ranked much higher. But yeah, we play down to the competition when playing a shit opponent and, like you said, it might come back to haunt us sometime this season. It just won't be Minnesota. Michigan State scares the shit outta me, for example. That said, 5-0 is 5-0, but they're not deserving of a #13 ranking based on the way they played against UNI and Arkansas State
By the way, Mace.........our university is run by a bunch of retards. They had a vote for Blackout or Gold Rush on Saturday vs Michigan. 80% went with the obvious choice of a Gold Rush and the university decides we're having a Blackout. What the fuck? The gold at night looks fucking sweet. Blackout is better during the day. Who the fuck decides on this shit? I'd like to personally tell them I think they're morons. I might just wear a bright orange shirt to fuck with the lame blackout.
Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
Nice game there Hawks. Arkansas State is the same team Nebraska buttfucked in the mouth easily. Yet on countless threads and before the season began Jon=Bitch keeps pointing out how Nebraska will suck and this year has no quality wins and curiously ignores the way V-tek lost every facet of the game in Blacksburg, VA (toughest place to win a road game this decade) to Nebraska and SHOULD have lost the game.TheJON wrote:Shitty game by Iowa, but it's exactly what I expected. Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
Here is Jon Miller's excuse......
What a load of crap. I've got plenty of cold weather gold gear I can wear and so do most Iowa fans. Matter of fact, I'm sitting here typing with a gold Iowa hoody on. That's just dumb logic.JonDMiller wrote: OK...I asked someone about this.
They said the weather for next week looks similar to today, and they were watching what people were wearing in today...and it was predominantly black...and if they went to gold next week, it they felt like the participation might be less...but with Black, they know they will get full participation, and they don't want people to feel the need to go out and spend extra money to buy gold cold weather stuff. I can respect that.
Re: Iowa vs. Arkansas State in October?
Black is slimming. THere's alot of fat fucks in Iowa so don't hold your breath waiting them to switch to gold anytime soon.
Can you imagine? 3 thousand Iowa heifers coming through a gate at the stadium wearing all gold? Fuck...it would be like someone yelled, "HEY KOOL-AID!!!!"

MACE....nice one. (Nebraska was V-Tech's) But what does that make the Hawkeyes? If you consider the opponents in common?

I didn't say Nebraska would suck. I predicted them to go 8-4. I just thought they were a bit overrated. Learn to read and then get back to me. And you DON'T have ANY quality wins. Yeah, I know man, Iowa sure can't win on the road in a hostile environment over a quality team..........But, just ask =bitch....Iowa would bitchslap V-tek in Blacksburg

Wanna put some money on that? You name the amount, I'll ante up.Iowa will lose 3 of their next 5.

Not possible this year but suspect OU may lose in Lincoln. We'll know more about this team after they go to Columbia, MZ next Thursday night. But, I liked the way they played in VA on the road.Mace wrote:It makes Iowa the team that beat Penn State 21-10 in Happy Valley. or Kansas for that matter. as long we are going to play poor man's OU 2001 conservative playcalling on the road where we hope the D can win it.....lot of close games with 3rd and 9's you have to convert.Believe the Heupel wrote:I wouldn't be totally shocked to lose in Lincoln, but Bradford should be back for that game.
