God's Word is everything

Post by poptart »

Isaiah 40:8
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

The very first thing satan attacked, and the very first thing he wanted to take man away from, was ... God's Word, which gives man LIFE -- John 1:4.

God gave the following sure Word to Adam in Genesis 2:17.

Genesis 2:17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

In the day that you eat of that tree you will surely die.

Genesis 3:4
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Adam and Eve ate, and in that day they died.
A spiritual death.

Two dead beings can never create ... LIFE, so God skipped right over those dead beings and said he would use the seed of the woman -- Genesis 3:15 -- to crush the head of satan, who has brought certain failure to all mankind.

This is Christ, the seed of the woman.

Christ finished it all for us.

Christ IS God's Word.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Okay - for the sake of this forum, I'll bite.

How does one determine which word is truly G-d's word, and what is everything??

Scripture is God's Word.
Jesus Christ is God's Word.

Today, there is no other word that is God's Word.

God has given us his Word and He continues to fulfill it.

and what is everything??
Genesis 1:1-3
1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3: And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

From the very beginning of the Bible we see that darkness has come to earth.
And God said (His Word) for there to be light, and it was.

Note that this light was not the sun, which was not created until day 4.

Darkness continues on earth --

Isaiah 60:1-3
1: Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
2: For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3: And the Gentiles shall come to thy light

Isaiah 42:6-7
6: I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7: To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

But God has given the Light -- which is the Word -- which is Christ, which is the only thing that can take people out of their bondage to satan (darkness) -- free them from their prison.

That is everything.

^Great Words Poppers

Some would say that anyone who applies 'What Was Written" to back up their play, is right with G-d.
Which would explain those hateful Fredphelpians, among others.
I say, the difference between the new and the old escapes them.

Also:
Everything is at odds with Eternal.
To say something is everything is being short sighted within the eternal scheme of things.
Kingdom Wise:
The Jews thought they knew everything about everything until Jesus rocked their world.
Now mankind has the Holy Spirit Of Truth to discern the old from the new, including scriptures which no longer apply to The New Kingdom Way (if you will) which Christ so graciously brought to mankind.

The New works for me, tks.
I'm also up with G-d rocking our messed up world real good, if/when He so wills it.

I'm not trying to stir up trouble here pops, so don't get all defensive on me....but just a question/observation on my part

how does a Christian such as yourself resolve the apparent conflicts between the first and second descriptions of the creation

Genesis 1:25-27
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image.... So God created man in his own image.

Genesis 2:18-19
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

So in one account, god created all of the creatures before man, and in the second, he created man before all the beasts. Which version is correct?

Another inconsistency is that in Genesis 1:27 it says God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:18-22 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

so in one version, man and woman were made simultaneously, and in the second, god took one of adams ribs to form woman....which do you think is correct or does it even matter to you? and why was it necessary for god to take one of adams ribs to create a woman, when he could have just created her the same way he created adam?

Briefly, I apologize, Felix, because my time is very short at this moment.
I can elaborate more later, if needed.

Genesis 1 gives us the events of God's creation -- in chronological order -- from day 1 to day 6.
Animals were created before man.

Genesis 2 is giving us more information, and specifically about man.
Genesis 2 doesn't say that animals were created after man.
If it said, "THEN God formed the animals and brought then to Adam." it would be in contradiction to what is given in Genesis 1.
It verifies what was said in Genesis 1, about animals being created from the ground.

God is spirit - John 4:24, and God is eternal.
Man (and woman) being created in God's image means that man, unlike anything else God created is a spiritual and eternal being.
Animals are not.

The Bible doesn't say specifically why God used Adam's rib to form Eve, so my comments may contain speculation.
Two main reasons, briefly.

1. Adam was the "representative" human of the human race, and all other humans came out from him.

2. Eve coming "out" from Adam represents a sort of "authority" on the part of Adam over Eve.
You notice that not only was Adam given authority to name all animals, but he was also given authority to name the woman -- Genesis 2:23.
And so it is in marriage -- the man is the "head" of the marriage.
However Eve coming "out" of Adam also reinforces the truth that man & wife are ONE flesh -- Genesis 2:24.
And man is also called to love his wife and "give himself up" for his her, as Christ did for us.
And the woman is called to respect her husband and to recognize him as the "leader" of their union -- as ONE flesh.

No matter how much I can get angry at my wife, I recognize that she is MY flesh.
We are ONE flesh.
If I hate her, I hate myself.
