Who wins and who's the darkhorse at Augusta
I still think Woods is the guy to beat simply because he gears himself for Augusta. But Phil is playing lights out right now and he is the defending champion.
I'm still going to go with Woods, but look for all of the usual suspects (Els, Vijay, and Phil) to make it interesting.

Guys game is tailor made for Augusta.

Tiger, Tiger, and Tiger.
Darky-horse: Olazabel.
For some reason, I always root for the guys with a little pigment to their skin at Augusta, just because it seems to bother some of the Good Ol Boys that they have to give them membership. I'm sure they were absolutely thrilled in the past decade or so to have admitted guys with names like Jose and Vijay, and a dude who claims to be "Cablanasian." Absolutely thrilled.
Goooooo, any of the non-pasty folks! Love to see Jose go out with another.

The favorites are obvious. Woods, Singh, Els and Lefty are favorites anytime they tee it up.
Guys who could suprise:
Zach Johnson
Jose Maria Olostmybazal
Chris DiMarco
My pick:
Sergio Garcia

It's got more to do with the futility of picking a single winner in a golf tournament.Felix wrote:That's just wrong on so many different levels......Dinsdale wrote:Oooooh...Sergio.......a new darky in the mix........me rikey.

That and me just wondering how long it would take for someone to see a pattern.
BTW: Add K.J. Choi to my dark horse list.

I suppose it might help his chances if he weren't to have left his clubs sitting in his garage.MuchoBulls wrote:All the volcanic ash in the world isn't going to help that dude.Otis wrote:Darkhorse...Jesper Parnevik
Hello UPS.. can you fly my golf clubs up to Augusta for me please..
I forgot to bring them with me.
I like Chris DiMarco. He always plays well at Augusta. I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago and put $20 down on him (at 22 to 1). If it's gonna be one of the favorites, though, I'll take Ernie.
Never count out Jeff Maggert either.

I was going to lay my money on rain, but then had a premonition.Otis wrote:
So who had the Rain as the number one contender to win this week?
I opted for the 5,000 to 1 odds on "plague of locusts".
I may be forced to gather up a shitload of the mormon crickets we've got crawling around this place and hop a cargo plane to Augusta.

He'll coast in today with a 68 or 69. Green jacket #4 is on the way and he's not even 30 yet. Though, if Tiger slips up at all, Phil is making some noise. I can see Phil finishing today at -9 or even -10. If he does, and Tiger falters, then Eddie Adams will need to buy a truckload of spooge remover.MuchoBulls wrote:No mistake about it. 2 great rounds by Tiger and only a matter of time before DiMarco folded.Otis wrote:There must be some mistake...

Tiger has taken over the lead.
And DiMarco, Bjorn, Immelman and Singh won't be factors because??
Why because they are golfers not named Tiger or Phil of course.
Now I don't feel so bad for having to work today. I'll be missing the Jim Nance Tosses Tiger's Salad afternoon ... er coverage.
Btw, nice job CBS. The most compelling part of the tournament just happened and nobody was able to watch it. I guess that's what they mean by "a tradition like no other."

Allowing CBS to expand it's Sunday coverage to all 18 holes, like the U.S Open has or permitting the network or cable (Golf Channel) to show the weather-delayed rounds before the regularly scheduled round begins isn't going to kill them.
Wasn't it only a couple of years back that Hootie et al decided to permit TV coverage of the front nine?

DiMarco and Bjorn will fade. Immelman and Singh are too far back. For that matter, so is Lefty. But I give Lefty a slight chance based on what he's done on the back 9 before. Realisticly, nobody is catching Tiger.Otis wrote:BSmack wrote:He'll coast in today with a 68 or 69. Green jacket #4 is on the way and he's not even 30 yet. Tiger has held 33 54 hole leads. He's blown exactly 3 of them, and never at a major.Dinsdale wrote:When was the last time Tiger blew a lead on Sunday?
Bjorn's already falling back. Watch for DiMarco to take the pipe within the hour.
PS: Anybody see DiMarco teeing off on the 7th? He looked like Ali he was shaking so much. It's a damn miracle his drive only caught the 2nd cut, and not the trees.

Bogie vs birdie makes that 2 shot lead disappear real quick.
