Normally, I'm a quiet environs kind of reader, but lately I've been tossing on some tunes and digging the whole package.

I listen to all kinds of music while i study. I have to , i get too distracted without music. I do better on exams with music on.

Mostly it is quiet, simple music. I find that Jazz and classical music are too complex, and i end up trying to listen too much to the music.

Some of my favorite study music is:

Keb-mo
Van Morrison
Older Tom Waits (Heart of Saturday Night)
Leonard Cohen
Yo La Tengo
Belle and Sebastian

etc.

They don't even have a time set for Eric Johnson. Seen him a couple of times before, good show. Hopefully, he's friday night, along with Buddy Guy. That would be epic, and a pretty deece deal for $5.

Plus, hooking up a little strange after the Blues Festival is usually some pretty easy pickens.....so I've got that going for me. See if I can make it at least until dusk before I either vomit or pass out this year......that would be different.

Never heard of them, but I will try to check them out.

Daddy Cool may not actually be the greatest band ever to come out of Aussieland, but they were a lot of fun. I've heard that they were really popular Down Under in the early-mid 70s and they apparently made it to SoCal a couple of times during that period because several of my college friends from the Corona del Mar / Laguna Beach area had seen them, had their album and were wild about them.

They were sort of a 50s throwback band, doing some doo-whop type covers in their own unique style and adding a lot of original material in a similar vein. I found a few of their old songs on WinMX the other day and dl'd them, and they still sound great. Check it out if you get the chance (they're not Boney M).

Apparently they got together again recently after 30 years or so for a tsunami benefit and were still popular enough to draw a big crowd.

i'm thinken you might get a kick out of TISM, though their humour's not for everyone...
