I am divorced. Twice. Surprised? Probably not.

The first time I got married, I was 20. We divorced when my son was 13 months old. We divorced mainly because we weren't compatible and we thought it would be easier on our child to be apart rather than having him see us fight all of the time. I don't agree with people who "stay" together for the children. That often does more harm than good. My parents stayed together and probably shouldn't have. My parents are two of the most miserable people because they don't live separate lives. They're of the belief that divorce is wrong and that counseling is the only option.

The second time I got married, I was 27. We had two children together. I divorced husband number 2 because he was physically abusive and I didn't want that around my children. He's not in their lives and I'm glad of it.

Props to those of you who are happily married. Some of us aren't/weren't so lucky.
Since you brought this up, I'm loading up the smack arsenals as well but I really don't care either.

I have never been divorced -- yet. My wife, however, had a previous marriage that ended in divorce. Her first husband used to like to beat the crap out of her, sometimes to the point of putting her in the hospital.

I can't honestly say, however, that the subject of divorce has never come up. Matter of fact, it has -- on more than one occasion. Remember what I said about the effect of a crisis on marriage earlier? I said that from personal experience. We're dealing with an ongoing health crisis involving our son that isn't likely to resolve itself anytime soon. In our case, it's torn us apart. Maybe it's on us for allowing that to happen, but that's also a lot more than most people have to deal with in the course of a marriage.

Look Terry, I don't like your politics. But God Bless and I wish you nothing but the best regards and hopes for the situation with your son and your relationship with your wife, FWIW.

I like Mr. T's attitude. I always wondered why Jesus would say things like "pray you're not put to the test".

Now I know, tests are a royal bitch and I've failed many. Fortunately for me, my wife and I have stayed together after 14.5 years. 7 of which found me your standard garden variety drunk. The past 7 years without booze, our life has gotten better and we've even been bless with a son since then. He'll be two in Jan. I wonder, in traffic a though crosses my mind, what would I do if something happened to him ....

Powerless over that all I can do is "pray I'm not put to the test" and if so, have the courage to do what it takes to go through it.

Godspeed Terry.

Ah yes, October 28th, 1983... amember it like it was yesterday. Well, not so much since I had that seizure, but I'll never forget her dragging me to the Justice of the Peace, parents in tow, and the vague threat of a shot-gun nuzzled between my shoulder blades.

Took her out to dinner after work today, boys and girls, and did I ever go all out!

Golden Corral buffet, baby.... all you can eat!

Now, before your mouth drops in utter stupefication at the enormous means and romantic chivalry required of such a magnanimous gesture of my undying love and fealty... realize that I did indeed have a coupon for "buy one buffet dinner, get the second at 1/2 price" strategically stashed in my overly fat wallet.

Not that I let her know that, of course. But wait, it get's better....

I ordinarily just tell the wait staff we'll have ice water, but since today was such a special day I told 'em what the hell, we'll have coffee (that comes with free re-fills, right?).

Yes, it's been a good day.

:bode:

Oct. 29th is my daughters B-day and I've got big plans for her as well.

She gets to come home for Thanksgiving!

Wow! I'm such an amazing husband and father, it's really hard to stay humble up in this bitch.

OK, I'll toss you a "Rack It" anyway WW. Keep doing whatever it is that works. Our country needs the help.
FWIW my parents will celebrate their 62nd next week.

Terry, I hope you can find peace in your difficult situation.

Indyfrisco has a couple kids? I hope no trolls ever look up their preschool and post the info here. Of course he doesn't have time to read Terry's posts. He has other more important stalking, errr trolling to do.

Nope, not surprised. Shit happens, even to good people.

I'm also not surprised that not one person here is or will be "stocking" their smack "arsenal" with that revelation.

Not speaking for anyone else, but I believe the most highly admired trait here, or anywhere, is honesty.

So don't lie, you do give a fuck.

We as a country should do more to protect marriage.

What the states need is to have a DAM initiative.

Needless to say if anything like that ever occurred the IP would be banned and also provided to law enforcement.

But aside from the Inky Dave fiasco calling Jayhawk's work , I'm hard pressed to remember anything even remotely approaching that

Not sure why she said she disagreed with you, but she's talking about the time Wags posted an article of his daughter's softball game that listed her full name. I threw it into google and there she was on her college softball website. Wags brushed it off as me just being a dickhead which is par for the course for me, but trev's dusty cobweb vadge has yet to let it go. I didn't "smack" his kid either. Rather, I said at least she didn't have his grill.

Like I said, don't put it out there.

Seriously, I mean no disrespect, and I'm sure that the board went over this when "it" happened. Most importantly, you and Wags are cool with it. You're cool. That being said, the google thing, It's kind of fucking creepy dude.

Actually, the whole story is he was talking about her being one of the best players on the team. I just looked at the teams stats and fired back she sucked. Wags fired back I was looking at the previous year's stats to which I went back to the site and confirmed and  ed myself. When I went back to the site, I saw her picture there.

So, intent was not to dig for a pic of the kid. I was looking for the stats he was bragging about. Made myself look like an ass (not the first time or last) when I pulled stats from the wrong year. When I saw the stats for the current year, it confirmed what he had said and she was actually kicking ass and taking names. I had my mea culpa, and Wags let it go.

There's always a story. And then the whole story. If you knew MY story, which as trev has said, we've all put some of our PI on here over the years, you'd know I'm no perv and I've got a good thing going at home I am happy with.

Just sayin. If I creep you out, a loud fart would kill you.

Golden Corral?? What the fuck? I haven't been to one of those since I was a kid. Last I recall it was a solid buffet but then again, at age 10 I eat just about anything.

RJ's BBQ shack off of Lamar in Mission is where you should have taken her. 'Swat I miss most about living in Olathe. 10 minute drive from that place. Best BBQ in a city full of great BBQ. Now it's a 3 hour drive to eat there!

Actually, you should have honored Zack Greinke by taking the Mrs. to Chipotle for a Ranch Burrito!

so what kind of "loser" are you according to me? the one who left? the one who was left? or the kid whose parents split? If you're the kid, I don't think you're the loser. Just your parents. If you have a problem with that, that's on you.

what are you even trying to say here? according you? you make no sense.

you used your own happy marriage to qualify the experiences everyone else has. as wags already said, a bit less self-righteousness, please. i'm pretty sure you'd be a lot more empathetic toward those losers if you came home one day to find out your wife has the syph and has been draining your savings because some preacher on the tv says really inspiring things. that or the crack rock.
