I don't want to agree with a point Mike Patrick drove into the ground but the tackle on Roundtree and the 4 failed attempts to score from the one clearly changed this game. The defense was actually playing pretty well up until they decided to give up a 99-yard TD drive and the Illini never looked back. After that, it was a total cluster fuck. That team in the last quarter-and-change looked like the team last year. 377 yards rushing by the Illini...absolutely disgusting. I'm sure Robinson has coached less talented defenses than this but this team has been getting worked throughout the conference season.

I think what would concern me most as a Michigan fan is the realization that DickRod, while heralded as a great coach at WVU, never put together a great defense there. People pretty much shrugged off the notion of defense since the offense was scoring 55 points a game. And that's fine and dandy, but it seems Big Ten defenses are a tad more capable against the spread than Louisville and Syracuse.

I think that's right. There is no reason he shouldn't be able to do both though. To defend the defense however..over 50% of recruited defensive athletes that should be on this team....aren't. We have been decimated by bad recruiting that comes from the Lloyd days.

Shitty defenses or not, he went 33-5 and three bowl wins in his last three season with the Mountaineers...gimme some of that.

Shitty defenses or not
I'd stop there if I were you. The Big Ten may not be the Meatgrinder, but shitty defense won't get it done regardless of how good the offense is. Especially when you're talking about a spread system that isn't the enigma it once was.

DickRod is starting to remind me of Callahan. It's not that their systems don't work. Michigan has had a good offense this year and Nebraska was scoring like 80 points a game his last couple of years. But they both hired TERRIBLE defensive coordinators. And unless DickRod learns from Callahan's mistake of not cutting ties with his shit coordinato, his career will end the same way Billy's career ended at Nebraska. I said before the year it was a bad decision to hire Greg Robinson. I'm a Chiefs fan......I know all about his act. He's been a miserable failure everywhere he's been. And don't even bring up the Donkey's 2 Super Bowl rings. They didn't win because of defense.

DickRod's defenses were actually fairly innovative at WVU - but they never had much talent to work with on D. I think it's going to take a few years, but he'll have things running his way soon enough, and they'll be tough to beat.

Winning 50-45 isn't really that innovative. Then again, I don't have much room to talk. Bring on basketball season. I'm done with this shit.

michigan's season hasn't so much imploded as it was front loaded with shite teams. selah, there's always next year to outgain an actual BCS opponent.

the only person who blamed michigan's woes on scott shafer was scott shafer. otherwise, i don't see why you're so upset. now that he's not working those long hours anymore you get to fall asleep inside his arms every night.
