USC-Oregon in game...

Post by Van »

Just got back from the Sac St-Northern Arizona game game, which was sitting at 27-14 Sac St when I bailed.

Nice selection of hotties, I gotta say. I was surprised, but then it was a perfect, 77 degree day.

Anyway, tuning into ABC now. The first shot I saw looked like clear skies.

It would be much, much cooler if Oregon's duck mascot rode the fucking Harley himself, rather than riding bitch into the stadium.

God, that's lame.

As horrible Oregon unis go, this black pants/green jerseys/green helmets combo is tolerable.

First false start penalty of the night, creating third and long...

Nice. Barkley had time to throw and made the clean delivery.

USC gets a penalty on the back up TE, then they inexplicably have to burn a time out too.

First and fifteen from the 30. Moving the ball well so far.

Great misdirection play...great recovery by the Oregon D.

Missing Anthony McCoy there.

Nice play by the Oregon DB on a third down...a small victory for the Ducks because the Trojans looked like they were on their way to 6 points.

Third and goal...

Oregon bowing up...

Oregon holds in the red zone.

USC 3-0.

Nice drive, but down deep there is where they miss McCoy and Havili most, plus Stafon Johnson.

Still, nice to see them moving the ball around.

Now we see the Oregon offense...

Masoli overthrows both throws...

Three and done. Chippy FG attempt...

Good!

Oregon squanders the opportunity.

3-3.

USC needs to go right back to work, beginning the process of beating down the Oregon D-line.

Bad series. Great protection, nobody open.

Barkley is missing his weapon in the middle of the field. He wants McCoy there, and Ellison ain't getting himself open like McCoy.

Oregon going with the super quick tempo, and it's working so far on this drive...

Oregon driving. The fast tempo is definitely working.

Oregon converts on third and six, creating first and goal. Oregon looking great.

Masoli on the misdirection keeper for the score.

Oregon looked fantastic that drive. USC had no answer for Masoli running around.

Oregon 10-3.

Oregon crowding the line. USC has to burn them well beyond the line or they'll get swamped.

Barkley throws short on a big one on second down...

Fuck. Back up TE Ayles drops an easy one, which would've been a long gainer.

McCoy being out is hurting, big time. Second drive in a row to die due to the back up TE being unable to make the play.

Momentum is all Oregon now. USC needs a stop on this drive.

End of the 1st quarter. After a nice opening drive by USC it's been all Oregon ever since, beginning with the long kick off return.

The 2nd quarter starts with second and long for Oregon, and USC needing a stop. Oregon's fast tempo is preventing USC from making adjustments, and Masoli's mobility has been too much so far.

USC strips the Oregon receiver for a big turnover.

Nice pick play by Oregon though, to complete that third and long, before the fumble. Masoli had way too much time. Not a good sign, despite the turnover.

The turnover was huge though. Great to see USC finally create one, when they most needed it.

Has Barkley missed a pass to his receivers? He's looked good going to the outside...

Check that...he missed that third down play in the end zone, so there's at least one incompletion to the wide outs.

Another false start on USC, on the back up TE, who is having a BAD night so far...

Second and 9 now...

Meh play, for a nothing gain.

Third and long.

Great grab by Williams, converting on third and long...

First and goal...

McKnight gets down to the three yard line...

USC really missing Stafon and McCoy...

TD, Rojo!

Huge sequence, with USC creating the turnover, then converting for the TD. Barkley just does not look like a kid only eight games out of high school.

10-10. This one looks like it's going to be a monster of a game...

Troubling for USC's O though is they look like an "0," with all their weapons on the perimeter, and no presence in the center of the field. They are really missing their big, safe, TE down the middle plays.

Still have to show they can stop Masoli...

The tempo of the Oregon O is just proving to be too much so far.

USC assumes the tackle, and James gets away for a HUGE gainer!

Oregon about to score again...

USC holds on first and second down from inside the two...

....but not third down. TD, Oregon.

17-10, Oregon. Neither offense can be stopped. Both Ds are getting shredded. Oregon's O looks to be more unstoppable, so far.

What he did on those two runs was get real low and hide behind blockers and then wiggle free. He's not tiny like the cat from OSU but he's smaller than most backs.
