SOS rankings exposed as pure nonsense
Cincinnati's schedule:

Sat, Sep 12 Southeast Missouri State W 70-3 --
Sat, Sep 19 at Oregon State W 28-18 --
Sat, Sep 26 Fresno State W 28-20 --
Sat, Oct 3 at Miami (OH) W 37-13 --
Thu, Oct 15 at (21) South Florida W 34-17 --
Sat, Oct 24 Louisville W 41-10 --
Sat, Oct 31 at Syracuse W 28-7 --
Sat, Nov 7 Connecticut W 47-45 --
Fri, Nov 13 West Virginia 8:00 pm --
Fri, Nov 27 Illinois TBA --
Sat, Dec 5 at (8) Pittsburgh TBA --
Pittsburgh's schedule:
Sat, Sep 5 Youngstown State W 38-3 --
Sat, Sep 12 at Buffalo W 54-27 --
Sat, Sep 19 Navy W 27-14 --
Sat, Sep 26 at North Carolina State L 31-38 --
Fri, Oct 2 at Louisville W 35-10 --
Sat, Oct 10 Connecticut W 24-21 --
Fri, Oct 16 at Rutgers W 24-17 --
Sat, Oct 24 South Florida W 41-14 --
Sat, Nov 7 Syracuse W 37-10 --
Sat, Nov 14 (19) Notre Dame 8:00 pm --
Fri, Nov 27 at West Virginia TBA --
Sat, Dec 5 (5) Cincinnati TBA
Our schedule is ranked 70th and Pitt's is 13th!!!!! Remember that the only games that count are the ones you've actually played. We've played all the same conference teams so far with very similar results. Usually where there is a difference it's like a TD difference in favor of the team that played at home vs. playing that game on the road. The only obvious difference is Rutgers where Cincinnati won by 32 and Pitt won by 7. Both of us played an FCS team and won easily. Both played a MAC school and won easily. They played Navy and we played Fresno State. We BEAT Oregon State on the road and they LOST to NC State on the road. There is NO WAY IN HELL there should be a 57 spot advantage to either of these teams. SOS rankings are PURE BULLSHIT.

Re: SOS rankings exposed as pure nonsense
I can't blame them. They're on a roll right now and I just hope that we go into the game with us at 11-0 and them at 10-1 with everything on the line. I just think the comparison between the schedules clearly shows that those rankings are ridiculous.
Re: SOS rankings exposed as pure nonsense
I'm looking at those two schedules, and based on who they've played so far I have to agree with Cinty. Pitt's schedule so far has been horrible. How their SOS could be ranked above anybody's, much less giving them the #13 ranking, is just baffling.

CintiBearcat92 exposed as pure nonsense...
Sagarin has Cinci at #67, Pitt at #70.
Anderson & Hester has Cinci at #44, Pitt at #67. (And SECBSH doesn't even want to know what A&H thinks of their "scheduling")
Colley has Cinci at #77, Pitt at #91.
I could keep going, but every computer poll has Cinci ranked somewhere between "slightly" and "significantly" ahead of Pitt in SoS.
So, I guess it begs the question: WTF are you talking about?

Sorry Duck fan, no nonsense here. Actually Pitt's schedule is ranked 12th and ours is 73rd according to this. I'm sure they're all very different but this is the one that I saw today. Obviously our schedules are fairly similar to this point in the season.

Getting interrupted on a message board!

Well, I guess if it were possible to interrupt someone on a message board, either myself or Dins would probably be the ones to do it, huh?

And Rivals (who seems to be guilty of little more than a typo) has what exactly to do with...

Re: SOS rankings exposed as pure nonsense
No matter what anyone thinks of Rivals (I don't care either way), these ratings are nonsense. Rivals has Pitt's schedule at 12th while another ranking has them at 91st?? This was just one example of how these rankings are utter nonsense. I'm sure there are LOTS of other examples.
Re: SOS rankings exposed as pure nonsense
College Football rankings can be hard to quantify.

Myself, I think Cincy has a very good offense. I think they'll defeat Pitt handily.
