53-52!

Post by Van »

Fresno St beat Illinois on the road, 53-52?

Jesus...

Gotta hand it to FSU though, going back east to Wisconsin, Cincy and Illinois for three out of their four OOC games. Helluva lotta travel there for a West Coast team, plus the trip to Hawaii.

Illinois strategically scheduled these games so they wouldn't have to suffer the long layoff leading up to the bowl game. That worked out well.

Mgo, why don't all Big 10 teams do that then, for that exact reason? It's actually a good idea.

Is it though? Who knows? Personally, I'd rather have those extra games to prepare myself for the conference season. Those games are played first, they're more important. Don't prep for those games, and there may not be a bowl game at all. I wonder why kind of effect this layoff has on Big Ten teams anyway. I've seen Big Ten teams play well in bowl games, I've seen Big Ten teams get slaughtered in bowl games. I think it has more to do with match ups and an individual coach's ability to prepare his team.

That's fine too, as long as the end result is the season gets extended to this weekend, the same as most every other conference.

I just did. That is fucking AWESOME!!

That bitch Zook is getting what he deserves. I have been saying for 5 years that it doesn't matter how much talent you give the guy he will NEVER win. His players are not mentally tough (afterall, they take after the coach), they're undisciplined, and he hires shit assistants year after year. And on top of that he is a dick. Karma sure is a beeyotch.

Fresno St was down a TD with 4th and 10 and 10 seconds left at the Illinois 20 or so. One shot left to get into the end zone. They complete a pass about 5 yards shy of the end zone, the FSU receiver takes a big hit at the 5, should've been down, but he makes the stretch of a lifetime and barely gets the ball over the plane. That play was amazing enough on its own. Then Pat Hill decided to go for the win instead of sending it into overtime, and here's what happened on the 2 point conversion...

Jesus!! What a horrible way to go down. That was like double and even triple jeopardy.

Then again, if you're an FSU fan, can you imagine that instant roller coaster ride, when you despaired at the sight of your QB throwing up such an obvious desperation heave, then your despair was confirmed when the receiver couldn't come up with the grab, only to see the ball land in the arms of a moving van dressed in white, who managed to fall into the end zone with it.

I could imagine almost being too shocked to even properly celebrate, at least initially.

Yeah, like the announcer said, with the schedules they play, FSU deserved to get a lucky one like that.
